i am using an led flash light and i am around day 21 for some eggs day 20 for others... and when i put the light against all i get is dark. .. .. is my light not strong enough? a week ago i could no longer see anything. and those were the lighter brown eggs.... never could see through the green egg. and tonight i couldn't reach the white egg.... cos the hen hasnt moved in 2 days so i think she is in her version of lock down so i made sure i tried not to rotate any of the eggs when i looked at 2 eggs tonight. that and i counted to make sure i still hat 11 under her.... she ate 2 during the whole broodyness... but maybe she knew they quit or something....

Hi everyone, just getting caught up. Spent the day rebuilding my old goldfish pond. Moved about 2 tons of rock twice. I am hurting. Should be done tomorrow. Seems to be holding water. Lol.

Here's what I'm posting about:
When I was catching the goldfish, I was hoping to find none, but found 5 black catfish about 8-10 inches long. These are offspring of the originals that I got from the pet store. (I did not know they got big) I do not want to put them back in the pond. I know it's a long-shot, but if anyone wants them They are free for the taking. I understand that these are the same as the local black catfish that live around here. So a chance to stock your pond.
Please pm me if you are interested. We can work out details for transportation.

My serama hen was almost two days later than what I had thought when she hatched out her eggs.... you might be surprised!

In fact we had a 'bonus' chick hatch too--I thought she was done after the first two, she was still sitting on the last egg and that one hatched too--it took about two days for all three chicks to hatch out.. so don't chuck any eggs until you are absolutely positive they aren't hatching!

Golly if I had the money right now I would SO bid on those. . . I've been waiting for Dan Powell to complete and sell those project birds since I first saw them brought up.

So sad this morning.

My beautiful Wyandotte hen passed away. I only got her a week ago and she happened to be sick when she came (unbeknownst to the givers or me at the time). I tried nursing her back to health but didn't know what I was doing in the beginning and probably lost precious time. I had thought she was doing better but this morning she began flapping wildly and then was gone. I'm glad she's not suffering anymore but I have to cry too! How can you fall so in love with them after only a week? I plan to replace her with either a blue laced red (my favorite) or a splash but right now I'm just going to cry.

One of my BLRW chicks (she's 8 weeks) was sick the other day and I thought I'd lose her. When I found her in the coop, I thought she was dead at first. She was listless and laying on her side. I brought her into the house and wrapped her in a towel to keep her warm and to catch any poo. Sounds dumb, but I took her to bed with me to take a nap. That whole day, I had to give her water and brought her everywhere with me to keep an eye on her. By the end of the day, she was perking up and sitting up straight, but still couldn't walk or anything. The next morning, she could walk but not very steadily. She was eating well, though. I'm so glad she got better.

I think the whole part of nursing her back to health made me fall in love with her more. It would make it that much harder to lose her so I can understand you falling in love with yours so quickly. I'm glad she had you, though. You cared for her to the end
