Chickielady. I NEVER stay up nights wondering if I am going crazy. I have a paper to prove it. LOL, just kidding honestly!! I hope.

Oh deary, I do not STAY UP wondering, I just wake up & lie here wondering.
Then I look at the opposite: If I had no chickens, what would I be doing ?????????????????????????????????
No reason to even get out of bed...no extra income, no WORK which to me is exercise............no joy.

Cheryl, I used to raise dogs so had to say goodby to alot of them - way too early - as always with dogs. I figured a good cry helped people so I used to sit with my gang and pet them and love up on them and then start howling. They would join in and we'd keep at it until we all got tired(and drove the neighbors to distraction). The dogs seemed at peace after that and would go back to their regular business.Maybe it will work for you too.

I agree, a good cry with the dogs !

Totalcolour - just another thought. You could try letting the hen out of the fenced area and following her. I have a hunch she will lead you right to the spot that others were concerned with. Bring a big stick and dog, just in case you do find something lurking.

Electric fence, and she has a Corgi that is adorable, but I bet true to her breeding will be ferocius if called upon.

And What if I had you come look into sheet rock on 2 barns ceilings ? You have scaffolding ?
We did have some, then found out FiL sold it for a CHEEP price

And oh yes, you are blessed with a very intelligent young man ! Usually they do not aknowledge that their parents are smarter until they are in their 30s or 40s ?
