It looks nice, Julie! And I like the farm logo, CL.

Julie, I love it but the only thing is the Nubian goat on the picture isnt a Nubian, its more of a Togg. Nubians have nice Roman nose's

I hope you don't the issues we do - likely not as our girl is sort of rumpless but has these weird almost-a-tail-feathers. So, not completely rumpless - mostly funny

she's also top-heavy and cannot get on & off the roost by herself. But she lays nice, big blue eggs. Worth squashing walnuts every now & again I guess

I've got two cochins to do that to after tax season - not looking forward to it! They roost too close to the wall in the Eglu, despite having lots of space available to them. Their tirds slide down the wall and stick to their feathers. The bantam cochins are cleaner and always seem to aim between the slats where they should go, so they have nice clean fluffy-butts! If I ever lose any of the hens from my LF coop, the big cochins will move in there with the other big birds. My flock seems to be quite healthy, so I don't anticipate that happening any time soon. I do have one other poopy-butt hen - my Light Sussex. I don't know why, but she has never used a roosting bar, she has instead claimed one of the nesting boxes as her private bedroom. She was looking so pretty after her molt, but already her new white feathers are getting stained. I love her, but Grace is not her middle name. She has her favorite dust-bath spot in the yard, and if the sun is out, she will be in there throwing dirt all over the place, even if it rained 20 minutes earlier.

Good luck - I'd suggest you have one of your kids nearby to help. (Olivia might really enjoy it!) In retrospect it wasn't that difficult, I mean, all of our friends showing birds do it frequently and to several birds in a row. I actually enjoyed it once Mona started to relax, but every time she started to go limp I was having to support her body, especially when she was still in the water as her head would have gone under. At that point since I was trying to get the poop ball off it would have helped to have someone else holding her up.
This morning she's dry and pretty and back out in the coop showing off her new "do" to all the other girls. She's a brand new girl after her spa evening - feeling refreshed and ready to tackle another day scratching in the dirt.

Has anyone taken a look at the newest coop building winners? I haven't looked at all of them, but noticed one that tied for first place has a run all enclosed with poultry wire! I'm really surprised that would be chosen as a winner when every other thread about building a coop suggests hardware cloth, or something equally as strong at least on the lower part of your coop. I don't want to take anything away from the winner. They did a lovely job and carefully explained in text and photos how it was done, but I'd hate for a newbie to get the idea that their run would be safe using only chicken wire to screen it in.

I'm sure someone will bring it up eventually. I just hope it's done in a diplomatic and kind manner. I wouldn't want anyone's feelings to be hurt.

Bothel?
You nearly have to trip over me to get to Bothell!
When exactly are you going?
PM me if you want to meet for lunch.
RonB - where are you?
Hallerlake?
Anybody else want to meet for a quick lunch around these parts?
I am swamped with tax returns but I could sneak out for a quick bite!

Well I thought I would check in. I have finally started Chloe's quilt top. I had to dig out part of my sewing room just so that I could think. I got a lot done today, and started new indoor projects. I must be feeling a lot better.

It's about time. I did find out that last week was about my having a bad reaction to a new to me drug. I should have read the side effects. DDiL finally explained it to me. She has tried the same stuff.

My DD is coming tomorrow, and is going to help me dig out the office area. Then on Wednesday I am heading to Bothel to have Jet evaluated at the Academy of Canine Behavior. It should be interesting to hear what they have to say. I am beginning to think that Jet is going to need a much more active family than DH and I can give him. He has been driving me nuts the past few days. It's was like he was on his best behavior the first couple of weeks, and now is being a big brat.

Julie I think I am heading to bed now. lol

Now that I've finally met you I was very happy to read your entire site!
Don't worry about being long winded.
I think you come across on paper just the way you do in person - friendly and approachable!

Hey Thanks Robin!! So was I a bit long winded on the about us?? I read it and rewrote it like 6 times!! Maybe I shouldn't have put so much?
