So I can tell you we have Nubian's and Toggs, cant tell you how many because than I have K___ you LOL. We have a lot let me just say that.
Nubian's have great milk but so do Obers and San. A lot of people say they don't like the Togg milk because it has a different taste, but all of the people in Europe love it and like that taste. I feel they do need human contact at least ours do since most of them started off life in my front room until they wouldn't stay in the tub any more and wake me up at night.. right Julie..
My house is a animal house and I'm very lucky I have my husband because most other men would have strung me up long ago.. I love my goats.
They are not that hard to take care of really.

But with no fence I cannot have any !

I have 27 pages to catch up on tonight. I spent yesterday clearing out part of the office. I had a daybed in the office, and It is very rarely used and is taking up to much space. DH needs a bigger desk, and we have one just setting around the garage. We could put it back together, and DH would have a much more usable office space. Now I just need to list the daybed and trundle on craigslist.

I spent today getting a training assessment on Jet. We went to Bothel to the Academy Canine of Behavior. The first thing they saw was that Jet seems to be a Briard, or maybe a Briard mix. I have never seen a Briard that didn't have their ears docked before. He also doesn't have a tail. That seems to be extremely odd. I met the trainer's personal Briard, and there isn't any question in my mind about the fact that he is at the least mostly if not all Briard.

I am still going to need to find the right home for him. He needs a much more active home, and people. DH and I are getting to be to slow for a dog like Jet. We should also start with a puppy. I am a bit tired of puppies, but I now understand that we will all be happier if we have a very large dog, from the time it's about 8 weeks old. I have have too remember that most very large dogs don't live to be almost 13 years old.

Jet seems to get a very big kick out of teasing the nasty little dogs. This makes the nasty little dogs, a lot more nastier. Miss Gabby actually seems to scare Jet. lol

For those building coops you need to do what works best for you.
I see a common trend people going to the coop pages here and elseware looking for ideas which is good I did the same.

Yet, here are some things to consider...................

I build my coops to stand up not to walk in for a few reasons.
These reasons go together...................

In the worse of wind, snow, my chickens still come out of the coop and go stand underneath their coop.

This way the coop can be smaller if need be cause only time they spend in there is to eat, lay eggs, sleep.

I make my coop long instead of like 4x8. My first one I built 4x8 and learned from that one.

I measure my arms with a bit of leaning over and there is the width of my coop.

What this does is allow me to reach the back corners of the coop without getting in it or leaning way in ruining the back.

Clean out is a breeze this way instead of my first coop when I made it 4 feet wide.

I also build big overhangs so you can stand in front of the coops doors with no water coming on you.

It is important especially in this state that you make the care of your chickens as pleasant as possible due to the rain factor.

I can not believe the amount of coops I see with no over hangs. Why do that to yourself?
I have a front and two sides with over hangs.
Back only hangs over about 6 inches so water only hits the siding in a side ways wind driven rain.

One of the biggest reasons years down the road people quit chickens or taking care of them as well is burn out.

If you are getting soaked while taking care of them there will be times you won't do as good a job cause you are miserable standing there.

When designing your coop eliminate the cleaning problems and you have made a better quality of life for yourself.

Graet Advice -

We built a walk-in due to miserable weather and deep snow.

Bothel?
You nearly have to trip over me to get to Bothell!
When exactly are you going?
PM me if you want to meet for lunch.
RonB - where are you?
Hallerlake?
Anybody else want to meet for a quick lunch around these parts?
I am swamped with tax returns but I could sneak out for a quick bite!

Now I wish I had got on here yesterday. I would so have met up with you. I took the 195th exit, and head east a few blocks, and the north a bit. We then turned right and went to the top of the hill. The Academy is a very nice place.

I would love to get the links about bursitis. I changed back to using the Flector patches. I finally have the pain back into a manageable level. I so now I have to get something done. I just wish I wasn't quite so scatter brained. Still getting anything done is better than nothing. lol

I did read that bursitis will onset in some women about our age, without any known reason. I just hope that it will go away the same way it came, and the sooner the better.

We can finally get a resolution!!!! I am also hoping that they will lend some credence to what the Chiropractor said!!

May 2nd!!! Wow!

Years ago I got bursitis in a knee after a fall and it seemed to take years to heal completely. That is painful! Way too long to wait. My Doc saw me the next day, but I can't say he did much. After a week, he needle-drained the thing - 30cc! 2 days later it was just as full. He drained it 5 times in 2 weeks, the last time he wrapped it tight and I kept it elevated for 2 days, that helped a lot. Then I got bone on bone pain because I'm overweight. I need to work on being young and skinny again.

I hope you find a quick and effective solution!

What a wonderful video - thank you for sharing! Those boys are adorable! Of course that reminds me of a story and brings up an entire new set of concerns... When Lily was 14, she and I spent a week in Rome. She has always carried herself like a mature young lady, so it was hard enough when I'd be following her down the street and watching Italian boys giving her the eye, but one day she had prolonged eye contact with a teenaged cutie on a vespa as he was stopped at a red light. She said, "I just envisioned my entire life with that boy in those few seconds. I nearly hopped on the back of his bike and rode off with him". Oy. Of course, she'll be 20 when she spends her 6 weeks in Florence this spring so I guess if she rides off with some cute Italian boy on his Vespa then it will just all be part of the adventure! Il Volo is going to be in seattle? I'm going to have to take a look. I'd love to take my mother to see them!

DH is leaving for yet another trip to visit NorCal in the morning...so we are packing up stuff & getting shopping doen.
he will be home Sunday at the latest.
He WILL draw out plans for you all to see as soon as he can.

And after the 5th of next month, I will have 2 broody Buckeye hens each has 12 eggs and a broody Java with 11 eggs, all hatching at once, and all will be up for adoption (although I will leave each hen a few babies to raise.

Turkey hen is also broody, so will be letting her rasie 6 of her eggs...........and now Splash Lucy (ameraucana) is screaming broody too !!!!!!!!!

Next thing ya know, the dog will go broody !!!!!!!!!!!!

It will be all okay unless you go broody too. I think it would be very funny if you and Gary had a little people.
