1,000$ for them to repair the wounds (that Rikke already did what she could on)

they did xrays, and Marty's hip is broken on the left side .. 2,000$ to operate and fix it.

They are cleaning and re-dressing her open wounds now, and will send Rikke home with some meds.

Here's it to hope that the chicken will be able to heal the hip fracture on it's own .. we cannot afford that.

Wow! That would be the worlds most costly hen!

Hopefully she will heal herself. Are the meds for the hen or Rikke? I think they would need to wake me with some smelling salts after seeing an estimate like that!

I just got the ticket on Friday and I have 15 days to contact the court to set a date. I'll drag it out until next week before I call.

Yesterday was pretty funny, she was out back and I gave her back her house key. She said she would return mine and I said not to bother because I changed the locks already. If looks could kill!

I'd be dead.

I must have missed a good story somewhere.....

Julie I totally understand your frustration. BUT here is another idea to think about. Can you get in touch with the farmers who have the wheat and corn? If so inform them of what is going on and they just may take care of the problem for you. See those goats are taking food off their tables (so to speak). And that may reduce the heat on you.

Well you always have to have 2 goats they are herd animals. How much land you have? What kind of Fences and shelter? Id also start by saying no Bucks they smell in the fall, but wethers are great and so are does.

The back yard is 1 acre and there is an old dble horse shed that I could convert. In fact I'm planning that conversion now. I really need 2 goats? Herd or no herd, dogs are pack animals and you don't need two dogs. I'm not arguing, I'm just wondering with my finger tips. I assume wethers are geldings? Two does that seems OK. What could I expect to spend on them and what would the feed cost be?

As far as bucks. I agree UNLESS you plan to breed OR have some neighbors you really don't like! They are pretty good revenge tools.
I would suggest wethers. They are just very easy going (no pms). Also (from my experience) no offense Zgoatlady but Nubians tend to be one of the more vocal (OK insert NOISY!) breeds!
