Turkey poults in the battery brooder....they have a small hole for air & peeking out.
I removed the 3 feed/water troughs that normally hang on the sides.
This is a brooder like the ones you see at feed stores.

I duct tapped plastic over the windows to keep warmth in~~~~~~~

Then I opened the top~~~

They come running & jump in my hand !

4 young poults & 2 older poults, man they grow fast !

Then 2 mo old~~~

Rainy miserable muddy day !!!
Feels like October or November here !
Wind has been howling all day, white caps on the Willapa, and torrential rain that will soak you to your unders in minutes!

Then the T birds turn into this:

4 mo old

4 mo old Mr Peepers

6 mo old Mr Peepers !

he is so awesome ! he is Julie's man now ~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks everyone. It is awful to have happen. I was afraid this would happen with hubby having a bird dog but had to give it a try. Hubby even worked hard to make the pen super secure too. Totally enclosed even to the point of wire on the ground to prevent predators from digging into the pen. Then railroad ties all around the bottom inside of the pen with the wire stapled to it with fencing staples. Even wire over the whole top to prevent predators flying into coop. Although it sure didn't stop the starlings from getting in and having food. The dang bird dog was pulling them through the wire. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. But it is a part of life.

And we just found out that we will be moving to the city in a few months. Although I can still have my flock lol. I already checked the regulations. it is zoned light industrial area and the only neighbor is a chicken raiser himself. a house that was built in 1920 and is 2 stories it needs a lot of work but we will be buying instead of renting. I am pretty excited about that. But means I am going to have to lesson my flock a bit. But I already have a person interested that owns 6 acres of property and wants to increase his flock. We just sold him our 2 muscovey ducks and the 2 male ducks. I got to visit them today and they are loving their new place. it has a huge pond for the ducks.

OH Happy day!!!! I just got my Silkie eggs! It's like Christmas!!!

I should also add that Mr Peeps is a sweet heart beyond sweethearts !
There was instance of a people hater cock bird who would spure DH and then tried to spur me.........and I kicked at the cock, and Mr Peeps saw all !
he came running !
And he kicked that cock's butt for 10 minutes straight !
he protected me !!
I will tell ya what, when a 18 pound Tom spurs a 8 pound chicken cock, the message is SENT !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I so love Mr Peeps, and he is going to a new home soon with pettec63......who will love him more I am sure !

I did tell her she might have to wear glasses so Mr Peeps thinks she is me !!!

I think Mr Peeps is starting to moult now too.............wing flight primaries falling out............poor baby, he is such a love, however heavy, he is not a full sized turkey, at 6 + age he is at top weight of 18 pounds, and is easily guided to where ya want him to go (herd him) and is so upset if he is away from people !
Turkeys will die from loliness !
