I changed my name because the national agricultural statistics service sent me a survey that was required by law that I fill out. I don’t know why I got this mandatory survey but I feel it because I had used farm in my username. I am slowly changing everywhere I used ByNatureFarm to ByNatureHomstead but on BYC our usernames cannot be more than 15 characters long so ByN8urhomstead is what I am using here.

That is the weirdest thing I've ever heard of! How can they require you by law to fill out a survey if you are not a farm? Unless you have filed for farming business permits, or something of that nature, I don't get why they would jump to that conclusion.

Bottom line I throw them away and did even when we had the goats and were claiming them on taxes.

I think it was that same survey that there was discussion of on here a while back. I know people who have never done anything farm related but they got the survey.
PLEASE keep in mind THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION but I feel it is just one more attempt to keep track of us and what we may be doing. As for "required by law". Well how can they require one to fill it out if one never received said survey. See they just send them in the normal mail so they really don't know who they sent them to or IF SAID PERSON ACTUALLY received the survey.
Bottom line I throw them away and did even when we had the goats and were claiming them on taxes.

They ended up calling me, my son handed me the phone while I was in the barn and a few of the girls were in the middle of an egg song. I agree it is just one of the ways they’re trying to control track the American people.

We were not a farm we just called it a farm. Back then we lived on almost an acre ( .89 ), but now our backyard is 30'x50' and we were still calling us a farm with 10 hen, 3 mini rex rabbits and a very small garden.

A few years back I got some scabies ear tags for our goats, or I thought it could be from localharvest.org website.

We got the same survey. I have referred to us as a farm and we have a website so they tracked us down. We have 3 horses, chickens and grow blueberries. We don't sell anything but eggs to my friends but we hit the radar as a farm.

Today marks a the completion of what has proven to be a very tough year for me. See it was one year ago today that after 30++ years I gave up smokeless tobacco. This has not been easy and I am still struggling with it.
I have had some pretty tempting times to go back.
