Today marks a the completion of what has proven to be a very tough year for me. See it was one year ago today that after 30++ years I gave up smokeless tobacco. This has not been easy and I am still struggling with it.
I have had some pretty tempting times to go back.

Congratulations and Happy anniversary. I have never smoked so I can not relate to your struggles but I do know it is a great achievement.

WOW ---7 weeks ?
My broody hens have had there baes out every day, since day 22 of the hatch..............the same can be had by a brooder with a door to the outside world, predator proof...........
If they are cold/wet/chilled they will go back inside.
Yeah, broody hens have the fluffy warm real estate, don't they?

We'll run a lamp out into the hutch. We have some banties. Some are Cochins, and they look like they could survive an arctic blast. I think they'll be fine but I'm such a softie. I used to tuck my stuffed animals in on cold nights.

Yup.

We seem to be missing some regular posters around here. Is everyone OK? Updates?

One must be careful on what one discusses here. There's a poster who likes to report non-feely-good,warm and fuzzy posts to the "flock watcher". That said, I also received that form and promptly forgot about it. Then I got the phone call by them. The only farm related stuff I have ever alluded to has been joining this forum. Anyway this was b4 I pulled the trigger on my decision to raise a few chickens for eggs and for something to do. It makes me wonder.

Dang, I might have overdone it a tad the last 2 days.

We got the same survey. I have referred to us as a farm and we have a website so they tracked us down. We have 3 horses, chickens and grow blueberries. We don't sell anything but eggs to my friends but we hit the radar as a farm.
We got it. My husband's business requires a nursery license. Maybe everyone got it and those of us with anything farm-related felt we needed to answer?

I think it was that same survey that there was discussion of on here a while back. I know people who have never done anything farm related but they got the survey.
PLEASE keep in mind THIS IS ONLY MY OPINION but I feel it is just one more attempt to keep track of us and what we may be doing. As for "required by law". Well how can they require one to fill it out if one never received said survey. See they just send them in the normal mail so they really don't know who they sent them to or IF SAID PERSON ACTUALLY received the survey.
Bottom line I throw them away and did even when we had the goats and were claiming them on taxes.
I agree. And I LOVE that smiley!!!!!! Made my morning.

CONGRATULATIONS!!!! That is awesome. Temptation will always be there, but think about how much healthier you are in the long run.

So we went to take the 4 doz a week eggs to the bar/restaurant yesterday, and found the owner had sold the place & a new guy was remodeling it all & going full alcohol/restaurant instead of just beer/wine.

We home we went with the eggs, and I was stressing at finding another buyer.........one that would want 4-6 or more doz a week..................
About 2 hours later a jacked up Ford F-150 pulls in the driveway & DH goes to talk with the driver & then comes to get me.

Seems the woman wants 3-4 doz a week on a regular basis....she wears a bonnet, so I am thinking she is menonite ?
Einstein was thinking she was Amish.....but I pointed out the Amish do not drive jacked up F-150s.................

But how cool is that that she showed up just when I needed a buyer ????????????????????????

That is really great!

I did have to laugh at the thought of an Amish dirving a jacked up Ford truck though.

The new girl on the block and the reason I haven't been on in a while. Boy is she SMART! Learned how to open the kitchen cupboards in a day and remove stuff, like the garbage trash can, food from the pantry etc. I can't take my eyes off her for a minute. Plus, she is as strong as an ox; she's a baby, 9 months and 54 pounds of energy.
Congrats on the new canine addition, Kate!
