Think of it this way. Your addiction can reproduce so its worth more. The mix pair doesnt seem like its worth that much but when you think about all of the chicks she can produce and how many chicks they can produce and so on plus the fact that chickens are awesome and dead cars arent I figure those two chickens you gave away are priceless. And did that dead jeep make you breakfast? Hehehe

Can you believe it! SNOW again--we got quite a bit here in Olympia, though it has kind of mushed down now. Heard there was a lot on the other side of the sound.

Don't want this thread to fall off the first page!

That's kinda a mixed blessing. On one hand, that means that he'd need to get rid of more cars to equal. On the other hand, if I want a bird that means he gets more! LOL.

Jenspeeps: Yep. X-cel. I'm glad that your gals like it, I was nervous about switching feeds on my flock, but if your's seem to prefer it, then it can't be too bad.

Egg-citing news folks! Either my retired EE has come out of retirement and is laying, or my young EE is. Either way, I got a blue-green egg today. YAY! My DH was mildly impressed.

Questions: Will roos go out of their way to mate with non-laying hens? Can they tell? I've had my EEer "Sister Brunhilda" (she's quite vocal about being celebate) since early summer and she's never laid for me ( got her as an adult). However, the last week or so she's been the object of affection (if you can call it that.) for 3 of my roos. Much to her dismay. In fact, they prefer her company more than the other gals so much that I have her separated her from them.

Also, will hatching eggs wobble and move in the days before hatching and what day will they start? I've tried to candle them, and they're too dark.

Woo Hoo!!

4+ inches of snow, had to pick the kids up at school, as they got them there then realized it WAS NOT turning to rain.

Slow ride home.

We are on Xcel feeds here also, everyone seems to just love it. Things seem more normal than when we were feeding from Dels.

Alrighty,
I'm in Granite Falls, WA 25 min north of Everett WA. I live in the foothills of the cascade mountains. In my intro post I neglected to mention I have a 4 and a half foot iguana. I'm only 5 ft 2 and I am the only one who holds him!~ I'm looking forward to yakking with you and am daily impressed with the knowledge on this website, wowser! But...it is the humor and sense of mankind that draws me in too. Love my chickens...raise them for eggs...raise pheasants for breeder pairs and some for meat birds. All of which get spoiled by moi!

Hello! I live in Everett and want to get some hens, my husband is planning on building a chicken tractor over the next week while my kids and I are in E. Wa. Here is my question- maybe someone can help-
I kind of want to see someone's chicken set up and just reaffirm that is what I want before we get everything ready. Does that make sense? It all sounds like something we would love, but I just want to be sure, or here other city chicken raiser's experiences or thoughts on the matter. Is there anywhere we can go to check it out? We do not want chicks right now. Thanks.

I live in Brush Prairie, just on the northeast fringe of Vancouver. Actually, I'm in an unincorporated little farm community called Hockinson. Pass by Gopher Boy Farms nearly every day! Hi to all my fellow Washingtonians.
