Hey friends, I am just wondering if my fellow Washingtonians can tell me if I have enough ventilation in my coop? It's so rainy in my area that I'm a bit worried about the coop. Here's the thread where I asked about it, with pictures and measurements of the coop.

This is just MY Opinion and I could be dead wrong! Some of the more experienced chicken people here might shoot me down. BUT I think your flock will get way too hot in the summer! how high is the roost? I would double the size of the vents and even put one in each side of the roof.
My coop is 7 x9 ft and 6 feet high but it is inside of a barn so it has lots of air space above it. I have a 2x3 open window in the south and west walls. My girls get hot in the summer.

Again this is just my opinion and some will probably disagree. everybody has their own idea's. good luck

NO No haggis please lol. I think I will stick with my clan sash and my medieval outfit I made. lol

Had to call friend that has her turd herd (6 pugs) and her 6 adult cats and her 5 kittens in my garage ... Her oldest cat Meow Meow got out and after an hour of me trying to catch him (caught him once with himscratching me) I have given up. The cat is old, tough, not fixed, his eyes are super goopy and his face feels like it is swollen and he has major drainage from his ears that smells bad. (he is a scottish fold and daddy to my cat) I hate seeing animals suffer like that. I really hate it. And unless I get a hold of him I cant do anything to help him. I hate it.

So called her and she is going to be here in awhile to take care of her pups and cats.. and she says this is normal for this cat. To me a fowl smelling discharge is so not normal.

SOrry to rant people, but seeing this today just got me a bit upset..

CT- that's really sad. She needs a good talking to. ugh. I hate when people are so selfish they refuse to do what's right for their animals (or even their own children!).

I look at my cat and how I take care of him. My cat is also a scottish fold and because their ears are folded over they need special care to prevent infections. Felix my cat hates when I do his weekly checks. But to me it is necessary for his health. Meow Meow is his father. They even look alike even down to the bullseye in coloring on their sides. I got Felix and that cat had me in tears within a day. He was almost feral. Hubby had the idea of kitty jail for him. A big wire cage with only a litter box and water in it. Only I was to put food in for him 2 times a day. and the cage was in the living room so he had to be around us. Kids talked to him everyday and so did I. After 2 weeks and a whole new attitude, he is the most loving cat around.

He still isn't fixed but that is because Hubby's daughter also has a scottish fold from a different line and wants to breed. Hubby says only one time then Felix is getting fixed. But so far there haven't been issues with spraying or anything. He is the only indoor cat we have. Only cat. Our dogs come in once in awhile but the cat is strictly indoors.

For the lovely scottish faire people on here. Here are pics of the kilts I made for hubby and kiddo, and also a surprise dress I made for a friend to go to the faire last year. I know it's not chickens but they are wonderful projects I did.

btw: I love my chickens..... I am finding they are much easier to care for than obnoxious, not friendly, cats lol.

Hey I found you!!!! Wow those are some pretty beat up chickens. I have never had a fight that bad. It is normaly a few feathers pulled out and that is it! Hope they are not hurt to badly.
