Well it is go to the dump day...and hopefully not get caught with the dead we have to dispose of, they have a sign there that says:
We do not accept toxic waste, tires or Batteries or dead animals.
I noticed right off that their sign did not say "Dead Birds"

So, if I do get caught......

Chubbychicken: You are more than welcome

here and I am very sorry that you and some others have had not so good experiences being on this thread.

People please remember, The emotion attached to the written word can not be seen, as there is no face to hold the expression and no voice to hold the tones.
The most Innocent comment can come across as harsh words this way.

If it seems that someone is snapping at you, don't jump back snapping at them until you know how it was intended or it just makes you not looks so good. It is really amazing how a few words from one person weather it be miss interpreted words or a snapped come back can really rock the boat on such a great friendly forum.

Come on everyone run outside and hug a chicken

and lets get back to our crazy chicken stuff.

HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY, HAPPY!!!!
It is true that without seeing a face, it's hard to tell about emotions. BUT, and this is a big BUT, written words CAN and DO convey emotions very easily. They CAN and OFTEN are used INTENTIONALLY to spark discord.

During WWII the written word was used as propaganda. Today, it is used in advertising - and used very effectively to sway or elicit an emotion, sometimes good , sometimes not so good.

So while I think some people are unaware of the impact their comments make, others are all too aware of effect of the words they choose. And it is done very deliberately.

Finally, some people have thinner skin than others and may take a quite honest remark and feel insulted or demeaned, while others wouldn't notice a barrage of insults. It's simply the way we are wired, or perhaps we've been sensitized or DE-sensitized along the way.

"There is no such thing as bad WORDS", as the late, great George Carlin said, "only bad intentions". So I think we must all look at the words and realize they are not weapons. It's the intent behind them that may, or may not be bad.

And as my wonderful late father always used to say "be like a duck"

(be waterproof and let it roll off your back!)

Oh, almost forgot.
We are going to try to get an equity loan on our CA property so we can finsih the house here faster.
So...have to contact the realtor, relist & have her do an appraisle.....then what ?

Take the appraisel to our Bank.....and hope for the best.

Any pointers ?
Go to your bank. If you CA house is paid off, you could potentially get a HUGE line of credit, enough to build this one here. We got one on ours, just in case of this flood CR is talking about.

Geez, with all this weather maybe I should have gotten ducks and not chickens. hehehehe

So sadly, our Silver did end up passing away. Most likely internal injuries. It's very sad, but everyone has calmed down. My brother did return the chick he so impulsively bought within hours of the accident! My DH and I just told him and my nephew that lets just adjust to the current 5 and maybe in a few months or so we can add, if we want. Our coop, that we built for 6, has only been up for a week. DH said he wants to see how the current chickens do for now. Maybe we can squeeze two more in, but now is just not the time.

Yesterday, I was out in the coop. I was holding Amy, our Salmon Favorelle. I was talking to her and telling her she needed to step up as head chicken now that Silver was gone. She started bok bok boking at me and shaking her head. I guess she doesn't want the job.

I becoming obsessed with ducks. Please talk me out of it. The poo is worse than chickens, right? I am going to have a free chicken coop soon, that would make a really good duck house.

HeHE!

Yup, I LOVE DUCKS too! Not gonna even try to talk you out of it! Ducks is better'n chickens. They don't need to be shut up at night. We can go away for a few days without worry. We have Muscovies and they don't make any noise (like chatty chickens).

GET DUCKS!

Quote: When I was on the road (a trucker) no matter where in the country I happened to be you could always tell the drivers from Washington when it started to rain. The other guys would take off for their trucks and the Washingtonians would keep on jawing. Some could say we didn't know enough to come outta the rain but I always thought we were so use to it we just didn't notice it right away.
