Do you use this directly on birds or on coops and surrounding areas? All of the above?
Read this:

I mix it in yet another empty milk jug & fill squirt/spray bottles, and I spray roosts, coop, nest boxes and birds...the birds I do at night, several times a year or immediately if I see bugs (I am always grabbing a bird & flipping them over to dig)
I also watch for sign: If your birds are general preen ing & preening & act itchy and freaking out digging in their feathers and/or have brown/dirty feathers between their legs, you got bugs.
This product is excellent to get rid of the bugs, either louse or mites, fast.

This is fowl mite:

very tiny, very fast, lays eggs on fluff feathers around& below the vent between the bird's leggs to make the fluff look very dirty.
These bugs can get so bad (and they are blood suckers!) as to kill chickens.

Oh...BTW~~~~~~~~ the permethrin is also great for leg scale mites.
Mix it with vaseline & massage in under the scales, or direct spray.

P.S. Do not use this product on cats or rabbits...read all directions always.
Cat & rabbits fleas & earmites must use a different product as permethrin/permectin is toxic to them.

I dust my coop and rub down the perches every cleaning with DE
I thought that was suppose to prevent lice and mites. I even dust the chickens every now and then...

Also, is it true that cedar shavings prevent both also?

I have heard it is best to avoid cedar shavings. The fumes that they give off (which drive off the bugs) are bad for your chickens lungs.

Hi everyone. I am looking for 3 black australorp female chicks from a breeder in W.WA hopefully. Thought I'd post here to see if anyone could help me in my quest. Thanks so much for reading my post.

Bumping up my post. Anyone know anything??? Thanks.

Opened this in front of the supervisor at our local PO. It was clear that the two eggs on the more smashed-in corner of the box were shattered and oozed all over. The box smelled pretty bad from the outside and awful from the inside. That reinforces my resolve to pack eggs in a box and put that box in a larger box like I've done before. Not even foam will keep a blow or sufficient strength from breaking eggs.
Aww, that is heartbreaking to see! What a waste.

I hope you are able to hatch the survivors. One thing is for sure, they've been turned plenty in that package!

Just popping in really quick, but wanted to say welcome to any new folks, condolences to Hallerlake, and hope everyone is doing all right.
