Ya know, I always have them around when I DON'T need them but when I DO need them I can't seem to find them.....Moved into the bedroom on the laptop.....shut the office door and hope none get out....

ooh the tolbunt is finally zipping.... The ameraucanas are resting quietly 4 out and 1 pipped. the other 4 eggs show no signs of life yet.
took pix of the older Tolbunt and the lavender amer.s and the orps that are 3 weeks old. they played outside most of the day today without complaint that it was too cold. It was fun to sit on the porch swing and watch them scratch and squabble.
congrats on the turkeys hatching. I would like a couple of those but my man sez NO! I think he thinks they're louder than our bc maran roo. I doubt it when he wakes me up at 5am.
La Sombra, I'm sorry for your loss. I know it's not the same but if you're close to me, I have two four month old french blue marans that might suit you. They aren't copper but are just at the same stage as your baby. I experienced this year how hard it is to lose your favorite one.
tomorrow we'll spend the day constructing chainlink dog pens to enclose the hives in. too bad I didn't put them closer together. I'm not a happy camper about this darned bear probably in part because since I got stung just at the top of my throat under my chin, I look like I have gained a HUGE double chin which is also hot and itchy. grrrr.

It's a drive, though. I'm down in Mossyrock, so it's probably at least a 3 hour drive and I don't know when I'd have time to get way up near Seattle. I'm tempted by those chickens on Whidby Island also, but I just don't know when I'd be able to get up that far...

We are hosting a Chinese student for a few weeks and he arrived today. We told him at dinner that we owned a small farm, but he reads English better than he understands or speaks. When we brought him home to see our 20 chickens, 14 ducks, 6 rabbits and 3 dogs - he was very surprised!
Unfortunately, his room is on the same side of the yard as where we have the For Sale chickens, so he has a perfect view of eleven chickens! I hope none of them decide to fly into his window while he's sleeping!

I am having to give 2 insulin shots a day to dog. My birds are not necessarily lots of dollars, they are pets with the perk of giving me eggs. When I take on a pet, I take on the responsibility if it were a child. If vaccinations are what keeps them healthy, then I need to learn more. The last time I had birds 10+ years ago, I had never heard of vaccinating birds and I still am new. Is this intramuscular or subcutaneous? I have given cats and dogs shots (hate doing it). Can I get the vaccine from my vet for the chickens? Feed store?
