I hope this is allowed, but I see other people posting that they have Etsy, Hyenacart, etc Shops, so I thought I'd post mine for y'all. If you picked up an item I'd probably discount even more too

I knit and sew girly items in a larger group of sellers. The group's name is Pins and Needles (on Hyenacart) and my shop name is Whirly Girl. I'm trying to sell out my current items so I can afford to buy yarn and knit more stuff for the shop! If you need baby gifts, check it out please

http://hyenacart.com/stores/PinsandNeedles/ (Oh and I also knit the top listing and I believe we want it gone, so if you like the collab listing just ask me about it and we can talk price...I think. I have to talk to 2 other ladies about it before we all take a hit on it.)

Your items look great. =)

SOOO...I just made a mistake I will NEVER make again! There were 3 eggs that had not yet hatched under my broody. I decided that after this amount of time they probably won't hatch so I took them out. I, without thinking it thru, decided I was curious to see what was inside so I brought them IN THE HOUSE to open them...carefully...to see what was inside. I had no idea that they were grenades in disguise!!!!!!!!!! I gave one just 1 tiny tap of the butter knife and BOOOM!

Of course I should've known that would happen, but my brain has more and more lapses in thinking power lately! My oh my the smell

I saw not too long ago that someone was using their chicken feed bags to grow potatoes. Filled with dirt and rolled a bit at the top, they were growing them right on their deck!
I use old tires that were left here.
Start with the biggest tire, and plant your spuds, then as they grow up, add a next sized tire & more compost up to the plant tips, and keep going.
When fall kills them off, knock the tater tower over, and all the spuds are easy to get ahold of, no digging.

See some here: http://bonzaiaphrodite.com/2009/09/potato-harvest-the-tire-tower-project/

True bantam breeds have no standard counterparts. D'Anvers, Silkies.... what am I forgetting?....... these are all true bantams. Cochins, Wyandottes, etc. have a bantam version, but also have standard sizes as well, so are not considered "true" bantams, even though they are, well, truly bantam-sized. Same with your birds. We also have some bantam Wyandottes. Sweet! Even sweeter than the cochins. I really, really adore our little d'anvers. So energetic, intelligent and sweet. Cooper, the cockerel, is flighty but if can catch him he falls asleep in your hand (one hand is all you need--they are that tiny). This is the breed for our first fair. We have 2 pullets who are so, so calm and easygoing. They practically beg to be picked up and zzzzzzzz........

Yes, I've heard it can be tricky integrating the two sizes. Our current flock is mainly for fun and 4-H. Next year we'll get a batch of Orpingtons, a couple of cochins (full size) and brahmas, since both are so sweet. DD1 wants a white Plymouth Rock and dd2 wants another Silver-laced Wyandotte. No straight run. No more cockerels. Egg layers. Period. We'll see how the mixed sizes get along. It helps they have lots of space, and the little ones can reach very high places to get out of the way (not so much the cochins, though.)

Hmmm, they sound fun, your little ones. I'll have to look into them. This is our first time ever having chickens. I was really excited to get them, I thought, how cool, my very own eggs, but now that we have them, I had no idea how fun it was going to be! The whole "chicken math" thing people talk about, oh ya, I can definitely see how that can happen! I'm already thinking about what kind I want to get next spring! I'm glad we built a barn for them, instead of a coop, just means I have that much more room to add more!

It was kind of a last minute decision to get the Bantams. I hadn't planned on getting any but then, our 2nd trip to the feed store to get our 3 little ducks, they had some and I couldn't resist! They were so tiny and absolutely adorable how in the world could I pass that up!? Ends up that we are really glad we got them b/c they are our favorite! We only got 2 though, I thought they would be accepted just fine (rookie mistake I now know) but since they haven't I'm wondering if maybe I should've gotten a couple more so they'd have a bigger group of "friendlies" Lol. They follow us around like mad (mostly b/c I think they know we will shoe away the big girls) but the kids get a kick out of them. Maybe when/if they get bigger the big girls wont have such an issue with them. I have no idea though. Next spring we will get a couple more, hopefully the 2 we have will welcome the newbies. The big girls are down right mean to them. They will chase them all over the place and if they can catch them, they will step on them, hold them down and peck at them. I don't know what their problem is with these little guys, they don't bother them at all. They used to be like this to the ducks when we first introduced them, but now that they are in their bigger enclosure, they do pretty good together. Hopefully we will have the same results with the Bantams soon.

Should I put their nest boxes up higher then my big girls boxes or does it matter? Although, I'm not even sure the sexes of the 2 I currently have. The feed store only sold Bantams as straight run.

I have 3 Silkies in w/ my RIR's Black Australorps and my Gold wyandottes. The Silkies are just fine w/ them you just have to start the flock at about the same size they will grow up together. The Silkies are cute and very sweet, but they do not take anything from my other chickens. They will raise up and look the other chickens eye to eye it is so fun to watch them little birds act so big.

Is Blue Coat the same as Rooster Booster?
Blue Kote is a product that you smear on wonds and it is deep purple, so birds usually will not peck the otherwise red wound.

Rooster Booster is (was) originally a vitamin/supplement for fighting cocks, with alot of vits to help blood coagulation.
Alot of folks just use it as a supplement for all their fowl.

RedReiner has sent a text that she is resting & will try to get more info later.

She also said thanks to all BYCers for their kind thoughts, prayers and fingers crossed for her.
