Blue Kote is a product that you smear on wonds and it is deep purple, so birds usually will not peck the otherwise red wound.

Rooster Booster is (was) originally a vitamin/supplement for fighting cocks, with alot of vits to help blood coagulation.
Alot of folks just use it as a supplement for all their fowl.
I guess I'm thinking of the Rooster Booster brand of No Pik or something like that-- a similar product to the Blue Kote. It has a styptic, a winter-greeny smell, purple dye and a nasty taste.

Himself got me a pair of Bantams 2 years ago, and when we introduced them, Mr. Smarty (the new boy Banty) chased my huge Buff Orp roo into the bushes and wouldn't let him out. We finally had to get rid of the Banties because the roo was so ferocious to my Orp. Now I just stick to big gentle birds.

The visual of the bantam chasing the big roo is kinda funny, but I am sorry the little roo didn't let up. Maybe a severe case of "little man" syndrome.

I did, but then ours are good flyers. I notice the bantam cochins are not universally good at getting up into high places. Our little pullet is examining the larger, lower boxes. You just put up a few boxes, different heights and sizes and you don't need to be too careful about measuring them and they will find their favorites.

Thanks for this. We just completed our first row of boxes for our big girls, now on to the second row of smaller boxes!

You would have to let the chicks get about the same size as the Bantams then introduce and watch to see how it goes. I add new birds of big chickens by having a smaller area in my coop that new birds go in then after two or three weeks everyone knows everyone i let them out in the big coop area. My rir rooster was the runt of my first flock of 12 they harassed him everyday then poof he grow up and that was over. They will work it out if it is not one sided as in them little other chicks grown, but this is chickens so it changes everyday all you can do is try

I would love to see pics of how your coop is set up! That's a really good idea, I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how I could make that happen though. Do you have a separate smaller area for the newbies that allows them access to the outside as well? We have a small pole barn that we are almost done with for our critters and a large fenced in area for them to be out in during the day, I'm not sure how I would section it off for newbies though, without having to put a third door in. Hmmm.

Popcorn for dinner tonight. Yeah...I don't get mom of the year for that one! Oh well, I'm not cooking! We just needed an afternoon/evening off after watching my 3 and my sister's 5 kids for several hours earlier today. The baby wasn't happy the entire time, so I was just worn out by her, let alone the other 7! Fun times though...wishing I had more kidlets now :( DH should be home in 45 minutes and we can relax a while before early bedtime. I'm excited to check the mail tomorrow or Wed too, I bought some chicken feather earrings off a fellow Washingtonian and can't wait to wear them!

Whew, finally all caught up! I'd like to send my thoughts and prayers to those members that are ill ...

I knit and sew girly items in a larger group of sellers. The group's name is Pins and Needles (on Hyenacart) and my shop name is Whirly Girl. I'm trying to sell out my current items so I can afford to buy yarn and knit more stuff for the shop!

Jessica, your knitting is beautiful. Your shop comes up as Pins and Needles Congo... what's the association with Congo? Just curious.

Well the website is Hyenacart and a group of Hyenas is called a Congo; I sell in a Congo to get more business and exposure (and it is cheaper) so any group of sellers on Hyenacart is called a Congo. My shop is Whirly Girl though :)

That makes sense. I tried selling on Etsy before... not worth the $$$ spent on fees. I think many people use Etsy for the same reason I do - crafting inspiration!
