I am having to "man" a firework stand to benefit our local swimteam. Otherwise, who knows. If you want to come and help out at the firework stand......

I can't go near Moses Lake. My parents live way to close in Ephrata, and I would have to go visit them.

this
is a related article about the avian flu incidents in Clearlake.
I am not kidding here folks !
The dead birds were so massed up that it was hard to launch a boat.
I guess it was fowl cholera one time, and bird flu another time.
It has made me freak if my birds are not immunized !
It was a horrible smelly sight That occured more than once (and is probably happening again even as we speak) and I will never forget it.
Apparently not an issue here in Washington, thank God !!!

I know what you mean !!!!!

........ if I could go to honolulu I would! No fishing this time.... just carousing auction on the internet in the motorhome....gonna go quad riding and swimming for the weekend! If I was able to help at the firework stand I would!

Here is some photos, the birds died, the nitrogen skyrocketed, the algae blooms, the temperature shyrocketed and the whole lake heated up, ran out of Oxygen and then massive fish death, it smelled so bad between the rotten bird carcasses, dead fish and horrible hunks of algae that appeared to be purple inside, and thick like slabs of styrofoam and the water turned BLACK like sewage.
We left.

this is a picture I took looking over the edge of the bridge by our property there, the big floaty gobs were several feet across.

this is a water channel, in the town of Clearlake Oaks, notice the boat docks ?
The smell would make me gag, and I have a surgical background !

That water is super gross.

Sometimes I am really happy that I don't live somewhere that has that kind of heat. I think that is why we don't have diseases like heartworm, and fowl pox in the North West is because we don't get the heat and humidity for a long stretches at a time.

hmmmm how close to Winthrop? lol

Winthrop is approximately 1 hour from Okanogan. maybe closer to 45 min, but I always allow 1 hr. North Cross State Hiway is open too (Hiway 20)

I live up on the Loup, not in town. I used to commute to Winthrop every day and it was 36 miles. Not too bad.
