COOL CHICKEN! Beautiful spots! What kind is it?

I love my pig! I would have taken pics when I first planted in it, but we had some freak rain and hail storms that beat it to death. Broke off most of the flowers. So I waited until things were coming back and blooming so I could show it off.
This is a beautiful picture, CR should use it for advertising! Nice work Kim.

Sorry Robin, but when it comes to "fat" people, it's the calories that count, not the kind of food. Bad food = bad nutrition, true, but if you take in MORE calories than you need, from what ever source, you will get fat.

So, if you only need 1600 calories a day, and eat 2000, you will gain weight. And it doesn't matter if it's from meat, or doughnuts, a calorie is a calorie. Excess calories (those not required for metabolism) are stored as fat.

(I don't eat a lot, but I do take in extra calories because I drink wine - it's stored as excess fat!)
I'm no nutritionist, nor do I play one on TV. Apparently, neither was the speaker.

However, I still can't imagine that the same amount of calories from processed foods is the same as calories from fresh, wholesome foods. I know the caloric value is the same, but surely not the quality?

I forgot to mention that I want everyone to leave my spiders in peace. I can move them, but we don't kill them at my house.

As I understand it (from UCSF lecturer Robert Lustig MD
), is that if you eat a lot of sugar/fructose calories they get digested much like alcohol and more readily converted into fat than other types of calories. Dr. Lustig does a great job explaining this in detail and his video has gone viral with over 2.6 Million views. Also, certain nutrients are needed for proper calorie burning by the body. Less nutrients, less function in the body, less calories burnt. You'll just get tired and stop moving. I highly recommend the lecture, it's really interesting and not too overly technical even though it is a medical school lecture.

Early this evening, a Vietnamese woman shows up at my front door crying her eyes out. I don't know her from Adam. Between the accent and the sobbing, she was very difficult to understand. It seems she lives in the nearby trailer park. Her landlord has told her to get rid of her chickens. She was hoping I would let them live here where she can visit them. The only other people willing to take them wanted to eat them. She has a friend coming to build a coop and run in my backyard on Sunday. I'm out of my mind, but what can I do? I'm just a softie. She and her daughter will come and clean all the coops every week. She has nine hens. I suggested she ask her landlord if he would let her keep her three banties. I hope he will.
