Good morning everyone =) I just came inside from physically placing chickens in nest boxes LOL Most of them were yelling at the one hen already trying to lay her egg...so I went outside and put a chicken in each from the door end. Because they all have curtains on the boxes - this seems to work? My backyard is currently quiet - finally LOL

Last chance for the Brabanters cockerel - free to you if you can get it today and tell me about it this morning - he's getting processed as soon as hubby finishes errands in the next couple hours. I would rather he had a good home, he's such a sweet guy.

I am in the process of losing one of my older serama babys.

He/she is gasping for air and making wheezing and peeping noises. I put medicine into the water and read that olive oil sometimes helps so I gave it a drop or two. It did poop for me and was very watery. Its tail has been down for a couple of days it just didn't register that it could be sick.

I finally had a moment to read the posts. I still have a coat of paint to apply. I have a couple of spots in the kitchen that showed up when I moved a few things around, and found a couple of spots that didn't get painted. DH took all the nasty little dogs to bed with him, so all I had to contend with was Achmed the cat. Apparently I require supervision regardless of whether or not I actually need it or not.

Cats believe they must supervise everyone... I've just learned to accept it.

Ugh - I was not thinking at all...I wormed him last week...just knowing I'd find him a home.

I can't eat him, and neither can anyone else, for 28 days from last Thursday.

Luckiest rooster ever...I had the water boiled and everything.

Now instead of processing, I'll be walking around to the neighbors houses to explain the crowing and beg them not to call the chicken police LOL

In the meantime...PM me if you want an adorable boy!

I'm so sorry

I had one chick that was this way, broody mama was ignoring her. It seems once they get this bad there is nothing you can do, and she knew that.

I hope that she manages to perk up for you. Those serema babies are so adorable!

Well, I could barely understand her. Anyway, she came and bought some ducks, a dozen eggs, and then asked himself if we had any trees for sale, and pointed to out cedars. Himself said no, she couldn't have any of our trees, but then I thought perhaps she wanted "wood". So I took her to the wood pile and she nodded frantically. So, we got rid of all the unwanted wood from the removal of a horrid old maple. Pity we don't have a wood burning fireplace, but oh well. . .
