That's a show girl; a silkie/naked neck cross. With the bow tie, if I'm not mistaken.
Yep. Thats what she told me anyway.
The bottom one has much more fluff than the top one.

HOPEFULLY, both girls!

Oh that's right - we need a nice Salmon Faverolles and Wheaten Ameraucana for the Favaucanas. Seriously, I'd love a couple of these. But I was just daydreaming about adding a couple of Cloverleaf Salmon Faverolles to the flock next year anyway. Jeanine has done such a fantastic job with her birds - beautiful, sweet, and productive!
I know! I can't wait til mine grow up and start to lay! I have one that should be about to POL. Her comb is red now but she is not squating yet. The others will probably be late winter or early spring layers for me.

But they are calm, beautiful and friendly.

Hey all! HOT HOT HOT!! My poor girls are miserable. I think I need to get to the store for some ice because our ice maker isn't working properly and I have NONE right now. I need to refill all the waterers too so they can have something cool in the mean time. Visited a friend today and brought her 4 of our tiny eggs; she was thrilled! I can't wait to have lots more normal size eggs to give away :) Might be getting rid of one of my girls though; Flower is so timid and gets picked on relentlessly by everyone else; I could barely even get pictures of her today! I am pretty sure I have a taker for her though and it would be great for her to go to a home where she's top dog for a while; maybe somewhere with younger chicks. We'll see how ti works out :)

Quote: I have had that happen before. Hopefully yours be OK.

Take the picked one, place it at the top of the order only to see the one who was screaming from getting picked on begin to do it to others.

Over the years observing chickens I have come to the conclusion they are a lot like a lot of people who are shown mercy and grace then once in a better spot treat others how they were treated long ago forgetting what they should have learned.

Mom likens chickens to teenagers in high school. All cliquey and everything.

Watching mine I can fully understand why she thinks that.

SILKIE PEOPLE!

I just brought home 3 little silkies. I realized I didnt have any chick starter, so I sent my husband to the nearest place and all they had was scratch and peck starter. Most of the pieces seem REALLY big for chicks... Is this going to be ok for them or do I need to go get them regular crumble starter?

Well the painters are finishing up finally and I can get the storage cabinet in the chicken run and finalize how I want stuff arranged in there. YAY! Glad it's gonna cool off tomorrow and the rest of the week too! Maybe the girls will start laying a little better.

So because RonB sent me to an AWSOME vet, I did not have to put Barricade down today!!!! It does not mean that it wont happen, but he GAVE me the meds to try and see if it helps him. So here is hopeing.
