I have one, it catches cats and possums very well.
When I have eliminated predators, more have moved in. At least these are fat and content with the catfood scraps.
BTW, had some friends that used to feed raccoons out their living room window...it got so bad that when they didn't have food out there the raccoons actually took to banging on the window and got really scary to the couple....They had to block the windows....took several weeks for the raccoons to get the message, no more banquet....Last year i had to pull the cat dishes after they had a chance to eat because the raccoons became regular and got pissy with the cats. eliz

Those conditions are pretty absurd. As is the ordinance in my town.
From what I've heard, there is a bench warrant for my arrest even though the pre-trial date is September 4th.
I guess that a pre-emptive strike will somehow keep the community safe from my outlaw hens.
There is no forgiveness here, nor permission.
Someone issued a warrant for your arrest for you chickens? Are they killer chickens or something?

IF this is the actual regulations as they are written and on record. This is SO FULL OF HOLES ! ! ! Myself I would challenge the entire regulations by ignoring it. But then I feel it is easier to just do it and IF caught beg forgiveness than to seek and receive permission.
I dont listen to the stupid rules. All my neighbors wanted me to get more chickens they like the egg, Neighbor across the street went out and got chickens too! I figure as long as the nighbors are happy county ordinance doesnt affect me much. Most of the current regulations seem like they are just there in case someone wants to complain. I know a police officer who lives inner city and has more chickens then is legal.

Ever heard the old saying "a watched pot never boils" ? Well guess what?? watched hens never lay either.

Oh don't say that! My pet sitter has been nervous mine would start to lay while we were on vacation. We forgot to tell her that we had put golf balls in the nest boxes - freaked her out the first day when she peeked in.

First day of special ed kindergarten. He did awesome keepng his clothes on, so I let him have this playhouse I refurbished yesterday.

Very cute. He will have fun with that play house. It will be good for him, too. Some kids love small spaces. We used to put up a play tent on our oldest child's bed when he was in preschool. He would go there and curl up on a big pillow when something disturbed him (usually noise - flushing toilets, vacuums, etc.).

You will be amazed at your son's progress at school. Both our boys went through 2 years of ECE (special ed) preschool, and my youngest also went through an all-day autism kindergarten class. It was amazing to see how much they changed and grew.

As for the clothes issue... sigh... I wish I knew how to deal with that one. My youngest (now 8) still puts his shirts and pants on backwards nearly every day (but, we're thankful he can finally dress himself) and my oldest (10) still can't stand to have socks or shoes on and we seem to be always missing both of those. Last year, a kid in his class stole his orthotics out of his shoes ($200/each) and took them home after my son took them off during class. His IEP allows him to take them off to help him focus and concentrate (a therapist recommendation), so the school was very diligent about finding who stole the orthotics. Thankfully, we got them back. It was frustrating - it was a boy we have seen be mean to our son on more than one occasion. I'm not sure what to do about it.

Hmm, major headache today. I had gluten this weekend and generally the effects of gluten generally last a whole week for me :( Gonna be rough on vacation too! Guess we'll be cooking for ourselves a lot instead of relaxing.

That's the beauty of staying in a WorldMark resort... you GET to cook for yourself

... unless you go to Silverwood, where they won't allow outside food/drink/water in. Two days in Silverwood and I feel lousy. I know the food I ate probably had stuff I'm allergic to in it. Eggs, garlic, cinnamon - are common ingredients that gets hidden in just about everything.

Just remember to grocery shop an exit or two on I-90 before you get to the WorldMark exit. I checked - the windy road around the lake is 10 miles long. Last night my husband said he'll be grateful he won't have to drive that lake drive 2x/day after today. Coming home from Silverwood in the dark is unnerving... more wildlife issues of animals that hang out on the road. This vacation has been stuffed full of animals walking out in front of our vehicle. LOL!

Gee! I hope you said HI to my granddaughters while you were there! Such a small world!

Well... didn't say "hi" - but I can pretty much assure you they had fun!

Ok... so if you ever go to the water park side of Silverwood... renting a cabana is well worth $125.00! When DH wanted to rent one, I thought he was crazy. But, you know what? It was worth every dime! We were served (at reg. park prices) anything we needed, and since food can't be brought in, we knew we'd have to buy food. They kept it on a tab, so we only paid one bill. We didn't have to stand in line for any food - and a couple of items we ordered due to kid allergies had to be picked up at the opposite end of the park - inside Silverwood. The hostess went down there and brought it back to us. Also, we didn't have to stand in any raft rental lines to go down one of the waterslides - again, the hostess went and got the rafts for us. Instead of standing in long lines, DH and I got to relax in the sun watching our kids play in the wave pool while we waited for things to come to us. It was awesome!

A similar thing happened when I was growing up. As a kid, I used to be terrified that the raccoons would break into the house. That's part of the reason I went over-the-top and made my chicken coop/run so predator proof. A raccoon isn't going to get to my chickens or their feeder!

We're watching the most spectacular lightning storm over the lake. It is really pretty.

We've been at Arrow Point for 4 nights total now - and we have yet to take our kids to the pool here or the public beach. We've been too busy with all the planned activities. We planned to do that this morning before we left - I don't think that will happen. We can't complain - the first 11 days of our vacation were warm and comfortable (high 70's/low 80s). It's kinda cute... DH and the kids are all laying on the Murphy bed staring out the living room window watching the lightning. Every few minutes I hear "ooh... did you see that one?"

FirewifeJess... we'll to get down to the pool/beach to at least snap a photo for ya!
