Hey, about that south side meet up. How about a central area, one that has a decent eatery and meet up for a late lunch/early dinner one Sat or Sun.
It doesn't matter to me since I'm retired so any day would be good.
CR, what about that rest on US 12 westbound? (I've been there, but can't remember the name. Exit 68 from I 5 right?)
Anyplace would do actually.
Spiffy's ?

Well, since I'm getting rid of Dartha, I'm looking for 1-3 POL pullets. Here's my wishlist of breeds but I might consider others if you're especially convincing:
Marans (really want the dark eggs!)
Easter Eggers or Ameraucanas
Faverolles
Leghorn (wouldn't mind a fantastic layer of white eggs)
Silver Laced or Blue Laced Red Wyandottes
Blue, Buff, or White Orpingtons

I would love it if they were already laying or extremely close. We need eggs badly! I only got 4 today and we usually eat 8 a day :(

Can anyone tell me what kind of spider this is? Te body is quarter sized and we have them indoors and out...i see dozens of the daily

I can't find the scientific name with a quick search, but they are a kind of orb weaver. They are often called "garden orb weavers", but many species on different continents share that common name. They only live a year, and rarely come inside houses. This time of year I have webs all over around my house, and every day I walk through at least one. Darn things like to put their webs across the steps, between planters and across my patio. They are beneficial, and I see lots of flies and other bugs caught in their webs!

All I know is I love my chickens... they will eat any spider even the very large ones that look like they could choke the chicken!

Oh yeah! I routinely see a spider, go find a chicken and hold them up so they can claim their tasty treat. It's awesome! Haven't done that one because I'm quite afraid of it. I snapped that pic and ran!

Most spiders are good guys...they eat bugs !!!
There are exceptions, Hoboes and brown recluse, and we have some Black Widows here too.
I loved spiders until bitten by a brown recluse a few years ago. I was bitten on my left shoulder. The shoulder was twice it's normal size in 24 hours. I was on strong meds for about 3wks to stop the effects of the bite. I do not like spiders much now.

Oooh...Scary!!!

My rule on spiders is simple. If you are a spider, you are welcome to do as you please in my yard. Eat all the bugs you want, just watch out for the chickens. You come inside, though, and you forfeit your right to life.

Our new place we bought a year ago is not horribly spidery inside, but our old place was just crawling with the things. One night my son saw one on his sheet before he got into bed, and wanted to sleep with us. I dispatched the spider, but he still wouldn't go to his bed. I grabbed a bottle of Febreez, sprayed his bed liberally, and informed him I had sprayed it with spider killer. He was satisfied, and went to bed with no further fuss, but after that whenever he saw a spider he'd grab the Febreez! Our house was still spider infested, but it smelled great!
