We'll miss you! Feel better soon!

FYI to the others: I need to drop off my daughter at school so I'll be there about 7 or shortly thereafter.
Promised Land is coming and she'll be there about 7 as well.

So, you get it. You get that there are not "always options" to get out of poverty or get out of the bad situations poverty forces people into. As far as the child, was s/he not provided proper blankets to stay warm in the tent?

I TOTALLY get it! My husband thinks we are poor, and I just shake my head and tell him he doesn't have a clue what "being poor" is. For me, being poor was 1/3 of a can of Spaghettio's each day and being hungry the rest of the time. Being poor was watching my mother break down in tears because Boy Scouts showed up on our doorstep to give her a box of food for Christmas and that box included a turkey. It also included 3 toys - mine was a craft-store doll with a crocheted ballerina dress made out of thick purple yarn. It was hideous, the ugliest doll I have ever seen - but AWESOME - because I got a present that year. My mom had few options. She was crippled, born with club feet. She had surgery to remove the bones in her feet when I was young, and finally was able to walk well enough after that to get a job where she could walk into a plant to go to work. She got the job when I was 6 and slowly managed to improve our lifestyle.

Yes, as far as CPS was concerned, the child had clothing, blankets, and food.

Really? That's kind of sad advice.

I don't see why. If someone disagrees with you so terribly much that this forum becomes a nuisance rather than a fun place to be with like minded chicken people, why not avoid contact with someone? We all do it in real life as well. And when I say there's a Block feature it's offensive but when CR says it he's in the right? That's strange to me. He has blatantly blocked people and advertised it here. Hmm, I wonder what the difference is.

Can I sub ground sausage in a recipe calling for ground beef? Essentially it's the same thing right? I have some recipes and I am trying to use up everything we have before shopping again.

EEW NO. Totally not the same thing.

Im sure it would sub just fine though.

I grew up very poor. I totally understand what it is like having nothing and wondering if we were going to eat each day. I grew up in a house that was falling down around me, with a huge hole in the floor. Staring at the dirt below used to scare me.

In the case of the child I mentioned - no one is trying to take the child away. The child had been offered a place to sleep at night to have a warm bed. The parent is scared and won't accept help. They have been sleeping outside the apartment complex where a warm bed was offered. It's not a foster situation at all. The people who offered the bed, and were turned down by the parent, did end up calling CPS to see if they could help convince the parent to let the child sleep in a warm bed, and CPS told them it wasn't a CPS issue at all. There has to be drugs or abuse involved before CPS will step in.

I wouldnt send my kid into someone elses house to sleep.(Im assuming these arent more than aquaintences?)
