LaSombra::::
It is very hard to do-in a beautiful bird.
Maybe you can put them in a dog crate or two and visit the Farmer's Market on the backside of the YardBirds in Chehalis.
From one day to the next there may be 20 people there or 1.
Just a thought.
Then you can do Craigslist.
I am going to have alot of OEs (Blue AmxBCM) and True Purebred Blue Ams...already I am sorting through the Cuckoo Marans.
The 4 hens I hatched from those little pale eggs I bought turned out just this week to be 3 roos and 1 hen, saying that, I thought they were all hens so I drove to Duval last week end and picked up a golden-Cuckoo-Cuckoo Roo from WA4HPoultryMom....DH is so happy !!!
But from those cruddy little pale eggs, those roos are going bye bye and I will keep the golden cuckooroo from 4HPoultryMom...more than likely better breeding and finer, darker eggs...although I did not remember to ask her and I believe she is in Hawaii now.

We ordered an air powered drill (modified) from Howtodrillawell.com and it has arrived at the P.O. so we will get cracking on the well soon...It is about 20 feet now and too deep to continue adding pipe to the cicular post hole digger

even though we have block and tackle hauling the stuff up to dump...too teetery 20 in the air...
So this air drill deal should get it alittle deeper and we will have water YIPPEEE!!!!!
Check out the air drill working http://www.howtodrillawell.com/
Later

Greg so sorry that I did not see this post til now, comcast is driving me mad~~~ But I love the story, and I understand completely this man's need to "spiff" himself up to worship.
In some countries the "spiff" goes way beyon d a suit to make one feel ready to go worship.
I feel if the love is within you, the respect for nature and your enviroment, that is sufficient, your clothes are optional

God has seen us all before !

I have seen one old woman plaster herself with make up and wig...and always wear running clothes...as if she was about to teach an areobics class ! But the make up was thick, and the whole effect was repulsive...and ugly, but that was her way.
She was, at least in her 80s....and she had to be attired in that manner to attend church.
To each, their own, and what goes around, will come around.
(Quote from the Duval sisterhood riders, 1980)

The shoes were probably for support, and the make up because she probably doesn't see well anymore. We're all going to get old some (we hope). I like to think I'll age gracefully, but who knows?

The girls are about four months old, and I'd reached the bottom of the starter crumbles bag, so I bought a bag of layer pellets (that's okay, isn't it?). I put it out for the first time this morning. They rushed the feeder as usual, took a couple of pecks, and looked at me like "Where's the real food?" They even followed me back to the house hoping I had the real food on me. They keep going back to the feeder for a few pecks. They'll figure it out eventually.

There is calcium carbonate in the layer pellets. Do they need oyster shell as well?

HL. I started out using oyster shell and when it ran out I quit.
Haven't noticed any difference at all.
Some will swear by it.

I look at rules when it comes to animals to be guidlines, not as got to do it situations because one reads the same thing over and over.
Lot of things that seem like rules raising chickens remind me of when I was raising discus.

See what works with yours then go from there.

I started feeding mine layer at around 4 months because they had a sale on it at the time. Why pay more when it doesn't hurt them.
In a few days yours will be use to it. NP.

I am with Greg on the idea that if it works don't fix it. Life is a lot easier if you work off the principal of "first love the creator and then love others as yourself". The church I was raised in everyone wore formal clothes to church. It was considered a sign of respect. I am not sure that it makes that much difference, but it does to some people.

I am a believer in if there is a rule then there is also an exception. I find myself making thing up as I go. I figure watching and paying attention to the overall picture a better way for me than following a rule blindly. I have learned through the years that there are many ways to get the same thing accomplished. The right way is often just an opinion.

I still give my girls the option of oyster-shell, and because it seems to be being used I will probably continue to do so. I have been thinking about just using all purpose feed though. I wish that I had a bit more space for the girls to free range. There are a number of members that don't feed their flocks at this time of year, because their birds have enough area to range.

I need to go and get some more flower pots. Small plants keep following me home, and for some reason I don't seem to have as many pots as I did last year. I think it's because I let DH throw away a bunch of plastic pots out early this spring. I must say that they were a bit past there prime, and were sun rotted. So now I would like it find either glazed pots or I will pick up terracotta pots. I just have to remember that the terracotta pots don't handle the winter conditions.

Well, for some reason I had not been receiving the information that comments were being made on this thread....I have missed days worth. I am sure there is no way I can go back and read them all..I hope that everyone is well.

My little Cochin hen, who has only layed around 24 eggs has decided to try and go broody....I have taken all eggs away from her and I keep picking her up and moving her outside when free ranging. I think I may have broke her of it...but gosh...she is just a baby, how can she be feeling like this already?
