Well I finally got what's coming to me by bringing in new birds. Tilda is sick. I think it's Cocci even though I don't have solid proof; nothing else makes sense. She's huddled and weak and can barely walk, when she leans forward to eat or drink she falls on her face. Or rather, that's how she was last night. I was up late syringe feeding her medicated amprollium water mixed with Pedialyte. She also hadn't eaten in a long time, her crop was empty so I fed her a scrambled egg and a mash of her feed with the medicated water. Didn't want to overdo that though so we finally went to bed. She woke up at 8am thirsty and I gave her another cup full of medicated water; she drank 6 ounces of water and won't eat her mash or egg yet. She is now standing and drinking out of a cup without falling down, and occasionally she talks quietly to me. Her poops were yellow water with a tiny bit of black solids in there. She's breathing about half the time heavily with her mouth open. I suck. I know I should quarantine but I just don't have the setup. This is final for me now, no more new birds, except day-olds and hatching eggs! Grr. I think she'll recover I'm just mad at myself. If she doesn't recover, those will be two expensive new chickens!

The only thing that doesn't make sense is that "incubation" period for new cocci strains is supposed to be 5 days, and she'd only been exposed for 3.5 at the most by the time I found her. OK we're doing school now and I'm wasting time. Gotta go check my peeper (she's in a crate on the table) and finish up with John.
Oh no, I am sorry. I really hope she pulls threw and that your other girls will be fine!

Chickie Lady would it help with smell, decomposion to dump lime on the deer carcass?
Yes.
We have decided not to do that though.
As the carcass is in such close local to us, I fear the dog would get into it to roll....

as dogs love to do, and that he would burn his mouth/eyes from the lime.
Lime would also burn the heck outta any buzzards or other critters that came upon the carcass...so we will just leave it be, and keep the dog away from it.

LOL well just in the spirit of fairness.... There are several gun toting men around here... There is a small graveyard on the back corner of the property for ALL predators :) Heheee.. Also I am really handy with a pitchfork... Some day I ll tell ya the story of Me in my jammies and flip flops.... a young back bear and 4 little piglets we were raising... There was a pitchfork, squealing, and in the end the bear had more holes when he left than when he came :) LOL

I have to do GF as well. It is very hard to do. You have to be committed and disciplined. I have failed a few times myself but I am back on track now, for the 3rd time, and there will be no more giving in...I'm tired of being sick.
I know exactly what you mean about eating with friends. I almost feel guilty because I feel like I'm more high maintenance and I hate that my friends have to cater to that when we eat at their houses. Luckily, we've been blessed with great friends and they don't seem to mind one bit, but I still feel bad. Tomorrow night we are going to a friends daughters b day party. They are going to order pizza and have cake and ice cream, well I can't eat the pizza or the cake (and I looove pizza and cake so this is gonna be hard). I found a recipe online for cauliflower pizza crust, I'm soo gonna make my own little pizza to take with me, that's the only way I will be able to get through it w/out eating badly.
But ya, I'm with ya, it's hard and it can get pretty pricey.
I do "Namaste" pizza mix, you get 2 crusts per bag, at the HFS in Aberdeen it is $5 something a bag.
Comes in a brown paper bag...they have a complete line.
I spread the crust mix on a parchment circle, and cook it on our pizza pizzaz machine until it is firm, turn it over & cook longer.
Comes out quite decent.
I DO avoid soy, and canned vegies due to the Epoxy resin can liner.....can cause sensitization & screw up your immunal system BAD.

I have learned something about things at my house.

I am in the processes of clearing out kitchen cabinets, so that we can replace them.

So I just cleaned out the cupboard that I store our alcohol bottles. I have learned that apparently neither DH or I drink, but we do have a bunch of fruit cakes that are completely out of control drunks!

I was aware that anyone who is willing to eat fruit cakes that I make, would need to be at least 21.

Still I don't really think I was aware of how many types of booze that these cakes were consuming.
ep.gif
I don't think that there are more than 2 bottles in the cupboard that I might want to mix a drink from, the other 20 or so are from these seriously drunk fruit cakes.

Ok I have caught up for the time being...................
Einstein has gone to NorCal to clean up the house down there as the tenant lost his job & moved out (and has not paid rent since July)
Hopefully he does not have to paint the place and the bamboo floors are not trashed !!!!!!!!!!!
