Me too! Chickens are just not that expensive to feed, especially if they can free range. Congratulations on at least keep some. I also thought that 3Rranch was going to really take good care of his chickens. I talked to him yesterday and I know that he has a very balanced view of his flock. I am happy that he found what he was looking for at your home. I am still sorry that you had to downsize your flock.
I'm trying to not get to down about the entire situation. So I am looking at it as a closing to one chapter and an opening to another. As for the chickens. I am comfortable with my choice to send my fav hen home with R3ranch. I'm sure she will make a nice addition to his little flock. She is the nicest of the three adults when it comes to the younger pullets.
And if all goes well, I may have the White Wyandottes placed as well. Thanks Chickielady!
So that means I have done what my husband has asked, and lowered my numbers by three.
I do agree, chickens are not that expensive to feed. But in two years of owning them, "more like being owned by them!" this is the first time I personally have not been able to afford to purchase feed for my flock. Its kinda heart braking and sad for me... But I'm looking at it from the bright side. The girls I am re-homing, are going to great homes! Plus I get to keep my little flock of 5.
I am worreid, are you all OK ?
Is there anything we can do to help ?
