An update on the Elk since DH just got home. He said they were hanging out in the front yard this morning and he almost got ran over when he left for work.

We know they are here because of the water. There is the big pond, and the easy access in on our property with only the short fence or no fence up front. We also have a stream that doesn't dry up running into the property. I know what the access from the sides looks like, if I was a deer or elk, I'd just come in the front and head towards the pond.

John is doing amazing in school. His handwriting is improving by leaps and bound, as is his reading. Today he read to me for 45 minutes! He's 6. That's crazy for a 6 year old! He is constantly amazing me with what he's picking up even though school might not have gone as planned. Yesterday on the way to AWANA he told me that Elijah, Noah, the Bible, and AWANA are all proper nouns. I was like "Wow! Yes they are! Good job!" LOL He then said that everyone we know including our chickens are proper nouns because they're special to

Actually .. the Bible is not a proper noun, neither is AWANA. We capitalize the titles of all books. AWANA is a derived word taken from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed as taken from Timothy 2:15

Unfortunately there is no controlling their laying completely. The added light just helps. They are going to slow down. Unless you have all production hens. Sorry. I gave up trying to control things when it comes to chickens. They just don't follow the rules very well.

they don't follow the rules very well because they are females

The only female I ever knew to follow the rules was my dog. May she rest in peace

.
All my hens have slacked off a bit because of the time of year ( not enough light) but my sexlinks and leghorns are still doing pretty good
