I wanna see bantam ducks !!!!!!!!!!!!

Chickielady http://www.holderreadfarm.com/ has pictures of bantam ducks. I warn you now you will want some, so maybe don't look! I was considering the Black East Indies or the Mini Silver Appleyards. Though I was hoping to get them somewhere else...

Rare Feathers, I was hoping for the bantams which are slightly bigger than the calls, and slightly quieter--or so I hear. I am in suburbia. Bigger=tougher for a cat to tackle, and a larger appetite for slugs I hope, while still small enough to fit in my small back yard. Calls are also very, very cute and if it wasn't for their notorious noise factor, white calls were my very first choice.

Itty-bitty pekins! Can you Imagine how charming they would be?!

But I have been sternly warned off from the little loudmouths. Sigh. Especially since there are 2 white call drakes on Craigslist for $10 each right NOW. double sigh.

Ahhhh! such wisdom, that you share grasshopper. I don't need any noisy little beasties in my backyard either.

It is okay to slap me if you need to. I can get a little silly at this time of night.

I don't know why this can to mind at the moment, but douse the kitten with vinegar. I think that I would do it outside. It should change the kitten's shins PH, and make it not good to eat if you are a flea. Let me know if it works. I have never tried it, but it is a cheap idea that should work.

REVOLUTION!!! Talk to your vet! It should be good for 8+ wk olds!!!

oh! Is that the one that takes care of just about every pest??

Yes is the answer to your question. It will even worm the kitten.

Well goodnight everyone. I have a rather big day ahead tomorrow, The BiL and SiL are having their 25th wedding Anniversary party tomorrow. I need to make a fruit salad for the party. I don't know the recipe for small. So have fun with all your chickies and duck tomorrow and I think I am looking forward to the little bit of rain that is forecast over the weekend.

An 8 week old kitten can become anemic from fleas, they could even kill him(though ususally not unless he's already weak), lost one when I was a kid that way. If money is tight you can also use some of the 12+ week stuff on a towel and then wrap him in it. And you can always use a really good flea comb with metal teeth. They take a long time but they do work. Any way you can knock back the population on him long enough for him to be able to use the older stuff...

I'm glad he's very healthy, but definitely don't want him anemic or anything. Thanks for the suggestions, too.

I also got flea bombs for the house as well as that powder for the carpets. I'm hoping to take care of it all maybe tomorrow or something. The fleas are horrible this year! Has anyone heard of using Skin-So-Soft from Avon to repel fleas? My dad said he heard of doing that. I don't have any of it, but maybe could order it or something?

Hi, fleas are horrid this year. I work in a vet clinic and after reading this I want to make sure you are truly armed with good information. Yes Kitty can get very sick from flea infestations, I have seen many need blood transfusions from it. I would also recommend you treat you house and the outside area, being careful to follow instrcution on how long to keep people and pets away from the area. Last I would also like to suggest to you to only use flea med that can be had at your vets office and NOTHING over the counter. over the counter mes like Harts and sargents drop and most shampoos have a BAD iongedient in them that can cause some serious toxicity issues and sometimes death in cats and kittens. Just keep up with regular topspot treatment from you vets office and the flea will eventually go away. Best of luck!!

I have heard the same info about the products sold at grocery stores. I have heard that it will kill the pet. So I would definitely second this recommendation. okay okay I am going to bed now.

Why not something herbal ?
At least give it a try, like rub him down with peppermint (any mint) or rosemary.
I think permethrins are safe, botanical insecticides...I get one at Home Depot: Ortho "Ecosense" and you can dilute by 50% and spray your hands, then massage the kitten.
Remember those fleas will lay millions of eggs and within a week you, all your critters and your entire fsmily will be infested as well !
I hate fleas!
There is alot of flea collars I have seen for kitties...

OOooOOoooooh! Those east indie and silky ducks are pretty!

I love Khaki Campbells LF....some day I will have some.
I came very very close to buying 3 beautiful Sebastapol goslings last spring, thank Horsefeathers I did not do it cuz Things are crazy enough here already.
I have a scarey feeling deep down that we are in for a very deep snow this year...el nino...warm warm ocean this year should produce lots of snow/rain and all the critters have to have shelter and snow cleared runs....I shudder to think of shoveling snow in all these chicken runs and the dog...and the driveway...

I will do the surgery/baby chick/ hatch/Dad surgery/me at the Fair/ thing next week, and then I AM COMING OVER TO TEA AND COOKIES WITH YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! http://bestsmileys.com/love2/6.gif Gluten free cookies for me with tons of butter and dark silky chocolate ! To chicken nuggets with """healthy"""" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This can be so arranged my dear. I would even put you for the night if need be. I only use butter. I know goes into butter. I am not sure what goes into other things that are said to be like butter. I have heard the some of those things are like one chemical something away from being plastic.
sickbyc.gif
So I really like that I know that the cow has made me some butter. And then there are so many types of chocolate that can go into a cookie. I don't thinks right to discriminate against the different types of chocolate. And then there is the flavorings. That I think is the secrete of my cookies. I might need to make some more.

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And don't forget to put gobs and gobs of walnuts in the batch !
