Ok, I thought so, just wanted to be sure. I'm keeping an eye on that pass, lol. Going right now to pick up the stuff for my large coop. Just finished another rabbit hutch, need to build one more. Then when the coop is done the birds will go in there for 2 weeks to learn where the safe place is while I do the run. Run is going to be a fort I hope.

Hi, just a quick note to say "howdy".

My wife and I live in North Everett. we can have 6 girls here in the city. We are planning on 4. I have 2 Golden Lace and 1 silver Lace reserved to pick up in Mid April. Also hoping to get a speckled Sussex near that same day. My chicks are reserved at Mt Vernon Skagit Farmers Supply. But the Burlington outlet will not let me reserve the sussex so i am taking the day off work when they get them so I can be among the first to get one.

Does anyone know of a chicken sitting service??? Just in case you want to leave town for a few days? I got much to complete prior to the girls getting here and more yet before they go outside. I have been designing a coop/run and plan to start building as soon as the Fence has been replaced in what will be their yard.

more later...

nwmud!

and hi to all! i've been absent from byc (i am learning to CONTROL my obsession... kind of. sometimes.) for awhile - life just gets all busy sometimes, ya know? so just wanted to say hullo!

feel sorry for me: one of my chickens (who has been a problem child for quite some time) is going to live at a friend's house this weekend. hopefully she'll quit her badchicken feather-picking habit with a move and new friends (and no naked butts to follow around and peck!). if not, i may be looking for takers for a naughty girl who is very beautiful and lays pretty blue-green eggs. i'm really going to miss her AND her eggs!!!

be happy for me: i will probably be getting two new chickens to fill the space she's leaving! my husband doesn't understand byc math, in which: lose 1 chicken = gain 2 chickens. geez. so, likely there will be orpington peeps in my future, yay!

hope everyone's enjoying the sunshine! (but what's up with the cold and frost when it's supposed to be SPRING???)

Hello! I live in Everett as well, I may be able to check in on your chickens depending on what you in mind time-wise. I live in Lowell and just got 4 chicks last week. Good luck with your chicks!

Laura,

Thanks. as far as time wise.... I am working on developing a chicken door opener for the coop and with larger waer and feed containers - I figure the most important thing wil be to pick up the eggs. I am also looking it to how to create a nesting box that would allow the eggs to drop through to a gentle ramp and taken out of th nesting box. that way the eggs will not be a concern as the girls will not be able to taste eggs and start eating them.

Lowell - is very close to us.
we are looking forward to getting some chicks and watching them grow. We think we will learn to handle them by starting as babies.

I don't know if I'd trust the pet sitting service to watch my chickens, I think they're aimed more at dogs and cats. I think the best thing to do is find someone on here that lives close enough to watch them.

I just thought I'd let y'all know that I have a college gal that says she wants to work for me on Saturdays this summer. She's taking some Animal Husbandry or Poultry classes or something for her degree and just wants to work around poultry. If she works out, I hope to be able to establish the trust where I can let her watch this place for a week or two while I take a trip or something.

Keep me in mind and, like I said, if she works out maybe I can send her your way too.

Laura, you stll coming by for the Welsummer?

God Bless,
