My daughter and son-in-law live with us. She won't eat eggs at all and he won't eat eggs that come from my chickens -- they have to be store bought! He just knows brown eggs (or, heaven forbid, green eggs) are going to taste bad. In fact, he is worried that I might just tell him that they are store bought and feed him eggs from my chickens. My daughter assured him that I would not do that.......

Don't tell him that there were onions and egg in the meatloaf he ate.

I baked a cake the other day and neither one of them would eat it because I used my chicken's eggs in it.

My granddaughter loves the fresh eggs and scrambles them up with a little cheese for herself. I do have friends who love the eggs.

I got 10 eggs yesterday!! I can't tell exactly which ones, or how many, of my 28 pullets are laying.

I've been missing my chickens so much too. Between work, school starting back up (for me, not the kids), kids, cleaning, building, the new chicks, other animals, trying to keep up with the house, short/wet days.. I only see them at chore time. I try to go out, crouch down, and talk to and pet them a bit, my phoenix hen will jump up on my arm and talk to me. Weird because she was always one of the most skittish, and everyone else tries to eat my shoes and my jeans, but it's just not the same

I keep telling my older chickens that they're the first and the best..

Egg ideas.. Deviled eggs maybe? (Yum) Egg Salad Sandwiches, use one to dip chicken breast in, roll it in bread crumbs, bake it.. chicken parmesan, cookies, cake, creme brulee?

I'd say bite your tongue! But since you're in Spokane it's ok.

When I moved out here I signed up for mostly rainy, with a partial chance of depression, not snow! That's why I left Michigan. Well that, and jobs.. which they don't have...

Hasn't he or she seen the images of warehouse and battery chickens and heard the horror stories. I would say inform them, except it would probably put them off eggs forever.
Well, more eggs for you and your granddaughter I guess.

I just walked out to get some fresh water in the pen for the chickens, and the sun was out and quite warm. Short sleeve weather. But now the light grey has engulfed the place. One of those days that we are famous for here in the Northwest for me. The good news is that I usually a few hours ahead of many of you on the I-5 corridor. Enjoy it when it passes your way if you can.

Boy that little patch traveled fast!

Hey I use to live in Everett. I think the street was Roosevelt (?). I was in the Northend near the Hospital. Are you close to that? or in the country?

It's raining in Enumclaw

At least yesterday we were able to add a lot of sand to the run so my girls won't have to paddle in the big muddy puddles and muck. I feel so bad for my 18 feather footed babies. I sure hope the sand helps the run stay dryer. One very bright note is one of my EE hens just loves to have me pet her, it's that or she just wants to run around the yard.

She even puts up with the Yorkie puppies so she can be out of the run.

Here in Tacoma/Spanaway area it's been a mixed bag today. Sometimes rain w/black clouds and sometimes it clears up with sun. Poor chickens keep getting their exercise, running back and forth from yard to coop to yard to coop.

Maybe that's why they are so skinny and has nothing to do with worms or mites.
