I had been looking into the prices of different venues and my goodness they are expensive. Then I started thinking of vacation homes. It looks to be cheaper to rent a large house than the other types of places I looked at. It also seems like a more intimate setting... more comfortable.

For example this place is 200 a night. http://rentals.bainbridgevacationrentals.com/UnitDescription.aspx?prodType=1&prodID=1020&prodSubID=99&begin=11%2f21%2f2009&end=11%2f22%2f2009&price=From+%24550.00%2fnight&vrm=1&page=0&numPerPage=25&colors=276a7d-5c92c6-a6c3cc-c0d3da-ccff66-ffffff&ActiveObjectMode=1&ActiveObjectRewrite=0&ActiveObjectInfo=UnitDescription~UnitDescription^OnlineBooking~OnlineBooking

This
is just an example of what I'm coming across.

The more I look the more I find. We could basically rent anywhere we'd like and pay between $100 on up for a house. I've been looking in Edmonds, Bellingham, Whidbey Island, Bainbridge... that's as far as I've gotten so far. Let me know if this is the route we want to go. I'm looking for places that have a nice kitchen and roomy sitting arrangements.

Hey! Great job. Is there anything south of Edmonds a little? We have some people who are coming from the south end and It would be great if we could center it a little more. I think Bellevue would be too expensive, but Bothell, Mill Creek, Renton? Edmonds wouldn't be bad. Easy to get to.

I am really surprised at the cost of that house. That is great. I know when we rented on the Oregon coast, they required at least 2 nights. You might want to enquire. But since usually on a house rental, you are responsible to clean before leaving, it might not be a bad idea to have a second day. Whoever volunteers to do the set up and clean up could have the benefit of a place to stay for the weekend with their family(s) for the additional time.

Are we looking for a house or a hall??? Any of you know where Holly Hills (mobile homes) in Bothell is??? Right behind the Seattle Times building. I use to live there. they have a club house with kitchen and good size bathrooms (m & w) it would hold 100 people. My guess is it would cost around $400.00 it is very easy to find from all directions. I work BOTH sat & sun nights so I wouldn't be able to travel too far

I must be missing it?

Where are you seeing $200.00?

I'm seeing over $500.00 which is what a house like that would go for.

Something you all need to consider when renting a house for an event like this is once they find out there might be 50 or so people there they are going to charge a lot more. Most people charge for wear and tear. There is also liability issues with ones that have decks whom if they are smart won't rent to groups. Most property owners though are clueless to liability concerning decks.

When you see a price listed if the place isn't already listed as for large groups do know either they won't rent it to you or if they do it will be much more then original amount.

Is a House even going to be big enough? being in Feb. we better figure we will be inside because of the weather.

I just looked in the Eastside and South Snohomish phone books under Halls & Auditoriums. There are several Legion halls, sons of Norway, even City of Bothell.

The Holly Hills club house is "dated" but it has everything ya need in the kitchen. It is very easy to find. ya get off 405 and its about a two mile straight shot (NO Turns at all) right into their parking lot! Their office hours are only 6:30pm -7:30pm Mon thru Thur. I will call on mon.

we need a date in Feb ????????????

how much is each willing to spend a person? I would go $25.00

Any one have time to call someplaces in the phone book?

When I went back and looked at the price it did say $550. That does seem more like what I would expect in that area.

I wondered about the large group situation as well. I know the places that we have rented houses from have always had a maximum number of people, and it was usually the number of spots in the beds. Seems like this place would be limited to about 8-12 people.

I like the idea of a hall or lodge better as well. They are used to large crowds and are usually "proofed" (Nothing expensive that can easily be damaged).

I agree that we will want to find something that everyone can come to that is near Kim, since this is her original party. Keeping it hear her is the best idea I think. We can have additional parties in the future if things go well at this one. Then we can move them about a bit so that people who can't come to this one might be able to come to another. I especially think we should try to have one in the summer that is more central in the state. Or maybe we can do our camping trip on that side of the mountains.

I have looked at other houses on that site. I think I found one for a family get together, but I don't think we will find a house that will work for the large group that is likely to attend. I think we will need to go toward large rooms to rent. If there are 100 of us at the event. Which might be likely, but probably a bit more than will attend. If we planned to pay $10 each we would have $1000. At least half of that could go toward rental of a hall. The rest for the odds and ends of the party. Plates, cups napkins and maybe even some of the food if it seems necessary. I would be willing to go to a party that was as much as $15 per person. Seems fair for a nice night of entertaining conversation. And less than a movie and snacks.
