I think putting the recipes out at the party may be the best idea, then we wouldn't have to worry about mailing them out later. But I like the idea a lot! When I had my reunion summer before last my husband took pictures and we put them up on shutterfly in an album that you could just look at or order pictures from. If everyone has the password, I think anyone can upload picture to it. Maybe I can talk my husband into taking pictures at this event too. He does a great job. And I don't think I am that biased.

Then I can set the same thing up for our group. And email the info to everyone when it's done. Just an idea. I'ts free, you just pay for any pics you order.

Kim. If I was in your shoes fronting the money I would do it this way.................

I'd ask the one in charge of renting the hall can I put down a refundable down payment on that date you selected.
I would give them a date of January 1st to give the rest.
That would give them 2 whole months to cover that date if you don't collect enough to feel comfortable with the amount collected then.
The reason behind this is to protect your investment.

Lot of people say oh ya I'll be there and life has it's way of changing that from happening.

So there you are with $215.00 out and only 180 of it covered.

By asking those who FOR SURE are coming to send their $5.00 or what ever the amount is by Jan 1st that way if you are close enough to the amount you know some will come that haven't already paid and will feel comfortable spending the money.

I know myself due to different situations I can't say for sure if I'm coming or not.

I also know people. People love to get caught up in the excitement of the idea and then they back out for a multitude of reasons when they aren't committed.

I see no reason for you putting yourself at risk.

I was thinking about that too. I was going to talk to the person who takes care of the rental, and ask them what their cancellation policy is. I think you are right in your thinking, and that is one other reason I haven't sent out an email to everyone with details. I still need to get answers on these important details.

I do think that once a person sends their donation it should be non-refundable. Then if you back out, it is your choice, but the rest of the people can still come and the hall price is covered. I do think if everyone agrees that if the cost isn't covered by the date of paying for it..... We should all just come up with a bit more to make sure this happens. Most of us are excited enough on this first one that I have a feeling money isn't going to be a problem once we have the address to mail it to. But I agree that the risk should not be just Kim's. Do other's of you agree that we will be covering this come what may? Personally, I am in for up to $20. But I am hoping my part will be much less.

Kim
I think I found the secret to egg laying !!!! MEALWORMS and more MEALWORMS !!!!!! LOL Some of my girls wouldn't get too close to me, they would run away if I approached them. but since I've been giving them mealworms about every third day, they won't leave me alone. when I go into the coop they come running in from outside and try to jump up on me. They are like a swarm of bees. They follow me around more than my dog now!

Tomorrow, would work great. its my day off. going to do some work for the Landlord in the mornning.

Then lets put her on it. Maybe you two can talk and work out the details and how she wants to do it, then get back to me and let me know what to tell people in the email.

Greg, I second you idea and think it's right on.

Don't wish to hijack the talk about the party but wanted to let you fellow Washingtonians know that I have a Welsummer Trio I'll be selling as well as possibly some Ameraucanas and EEs. I have someone who may want those but they haven't committed yet. I will be posting these on CL and probably in the BYC Buy/Sell area too soon but wanted to give y'all first shot at them if anyone is interested.

If you are, or for questions on them, please send me a personal email.

God Bless,

Chow-Chow. Now if the Zou Chow would just give the big dog some lessons on being a very old dog. (The 2 dogs are about the same age.) Then I could have another big puppy sooner.
