Try it. I think you will be amazed at the heat even after holding them a bit.
Yes I know. I have 13 all together and they generate a lot of heat when they are scrunched together. I haven't had heat in there for a few days as the light burnt out again. We still have frozen water in the water dishes right now.... So I think it was in the 20's over night. Probably not much warmer in the coop. They are still laying in the coop. But I thought since she is trying to stimulate laying, she might want to keep it warmer to fool their little bodies into thinking it was spring.
Are your 1X6's flat or skinny roosts? Some of mine fall off of their 2" roosts at times.... Might be smart for me to go with a wider one or two so even the gravity challenged girls could have a firm hold.
