Years ago when we lived in Lynnwood we had a grouse fly through our livingroom window. The window shattered throwing glass all over the room. That grouse must have been flying pretty fast.

It is 26 degrees in Eatonville. Another cold night. Fortunately we have solved the problem of freezing pipes. However, a lot of the water in our holding tank is frozen. Can't wait for the thaw.

I am guessing that there are some who don't know if they will be able to come to the event until the info is posted. So how about we try to go for something less expensive for this first party. Then as we get to know the people involved, we will be better able to decide how many will come.

The place of $200 sounds like a good idea. I don't know what anyone thinks about the distance. It is more central in the west side of the state. Maybe more from the south could come. But would the distance keep anyone from coming from the north?

I am one of the maybes and I have been wondering what caused the change from Kims house to renting a place? Is it just because someone thought it might be a better thing to do? I am just asking because I might have missed what happen between when she said it could be at her house and then it went to the rental thing. Grange halls can be rented for less I do know in our area but I am out in kitsap county.

The wife and I are planning on coming. I got your email but just haven't gotten around to doing anything with it yet. We'll be sending you a check sometime between now & right after the first of the year.

God Bless,

I think that part of the reason was because the numbers were getting up in to the 25+ area and there was fear that it would get too big. Other consideration also I believe.

A grange is a good idea if anybody knows where one is. It is very fitting. Sometimes, they are hard to heat, depending on the place. Also a consideration with those where the price is low. Some of them take many hours to get the heat up to a decent temp because of high ceilings. Maybe if there is a fire pit or place we can get permission to light a fire. Heat will be needed that time of year, even during the daytime.

I have been wondering why the whole time but then again you could be right at heating up a grange hall. My daughter and also 2 of her friends have gotten married in a grange hall in our area there was plenty of room there. Just was thinking it might be an option.

The place in Enumclaw sounds good to me. The price is right and, although I haven't seen the building, usually senior centers have good heat. There is a kitchen too, which is a plus. It is just under 1 hour for me, but the drive will not keep me from coming even if a different facility is chosen. Christina (Justbugged) and I have been on a couple of long drives lately, and we have the chickens to prove it!

If you are in doubt about that, just check her bathtub!

I have been to gatherings in granges that were very cold and then I have been to some that were nice and warm. Last week we had our beekeepers potluck in a local grange that was toasty warm other than no water, probably frozen since the temps were in the teens. I think a lot depends on the caretaker of the building and whether they try to have it warm in advance.
I am one of the maybe but one thing that may decide if we make it is how far north it is. I know that most are up north and that is fine. Just saying that since I am down here in nowhere we may not make if more than a couple hour drive from exit 68 off I-5.

Also another suggestion. I saw mention about paper plates etc. What we did at our bee meeting was ask that people bring thier own plate and cutlery. Then the club had a few for those who may have forgot. This way the expenses could be reduced and less mess to clean up after too. Just food for thought.

Not to change the subject but I'm gonna! I am so happy to see it so warm this am. I show a low of (drum roll please) 18* overnight

I am cooking up a bunch of rice right now for the girls and will take it out in a bit after it cools some. Been doing oats and they have showed appreciation with more eggs. Since I am low on oats and have the rice I figured it would help to warm thier tum tums.
So far we don't have any of the promised snow.

Well, I woke up this morning and have SNOOWWW!!!!

I am so thrilled.

The chickens think it is some kind of food - they are pecking and eating it, heheh. . . It is just a dusting right now, but hopefully will turn up to over an inch.

And lets hope it stays that way.

How was your vacation Rainplace?? Nice and warm I hope.

It was warm, but also humid. I don't know how I lived there growing up without AC. Now the weather just makes me miserable.

I did have a good time though. It was great to visit with relatives.... and then come home

Sadly upon my return I see that it was my prized black runner female who had gone missing. I'm sure it was a coyote since there wasn't anything of her left in the yard.

AND the brats... not a single egg still!

What's going on with you moving and all that? I didn't read through to find out why and where.
