I am so sorry about your little one too chickenrustler. I hope the little guy is able to move on with his new feathered family. (Added, after I scrolled down) Oh gosh. Do you suppose he could have found a place to hide in the chicken yard. Maybe he is just being quiet because he is in new territory. I would check every place close to where he used to bed down first. - twice.

Kala is beautiful. I love her coloring.

Nutty.......

8 for 12. Much better than yesterday.

No we have not lost any to predators and have had no escapee's. We checked the entire coop and run several times. Both lights out so we didn't disturb the others and then I turned the lights on which makes it very bright in there and still no sign. He is white w black so it's not like he will blend in easy. Waiting on batteries to charge and makin DW a snack for the night Then I will be back out.
To Quote Justbugged this is the fort lnox of coops. I felt that it was pretty secure and nobody would escape.

Hope Buggs pops out for ya tonight- Chicken Rustler

Nice looking best friend you have there Kim

Well since DW is not coping too well with the death of buggs and then the disaperence of woody both today. I decided it best to suspened the search for Woody until first light. Neighbor just came over and asked if she could search the coop and barn area for me. I told her sure. She had no better luck than we have. I am going to continue to hold out hope until dark tomorrow before I give up the search.

It isn't easy to help from 100+ miles away. My advice based on pet hiding is that time may be the best thing. You may need to see if there are any seemingly too small holes to look in. If your building is insulated is there a possibility that he could have crawled into the wall, or way up in the cubby of the rafters. Likely you have already checked these out. I would suggest goint into the coop when all others are out ranging, or in the pen tomorrow and call and then just be quiet. Maybe.......

I just have a feeling you are going to find him. Give your DW

I will be hoping and praying.

Two big pieces of bird netting. Good condition. We used it for 1 or 2 seasons.

My recipes are finally in!
Boy am I glad to get that done.
If nothing else we'll have a little something from Eagle to eat on.
As I know that some of us are coming from a long way, I went ahead and made two dishes!
Eat hearty my friends as there is going to be plenty to go around.

CR- I'm still rootin' for ya to find Woody!

Mike

Chicken Rustler I am so sorry that Buggs died. She wasn't ever as hardy as Woody is. I am in tears to learn that little buggs died. I will pray that in the morning that Woody will be found. I know that, I too will take it very hard if he is really gone. You have a really good chicken set up. I know that your care is so much better than anything I could have provided. We will just have to wait, I feel certain that he will be found in the morning.

Kayla is a wonderful dog, I am so happy she is doing better. It is good to know what kind of disease can happen to a dog that is not always familiar to all of us. With 6 dogs I really appreciate any info about dog’s health.

NuttyForNucks Welcome to the Washington thread. Please feel free to join us in Juanita in the Kirkland WA area for a potluck on February 28th.

We just finished installing bird netting on our expanded run. I and the girls are really appreciating the additional space that they have. My view of the yard is better and they have more space. I am trying to keep the numbers of girls down so that I can keep them cleaner than I was able to do the last couple of times that i have chickens. I have been able to finish insulating the ceiling of the coop. I know that girls seem to like the coop better. I will need to post some pictures latter. It hasn't been easy to install the netting with 4 trees in the run. At least the Willow trees provide protection from carrion birds

I am interested in joining others in getting meat bids this spring. So if others are buying together, we maybe could ship all the chicks together. I think that the bigger the order the better the price for everyone.

Weaveagarden I replied for the bird netting. If they respond I can get my daughter that lives in the North end to pick it up. I can then hold it for you if you want. It is a case of six degrees of separation.
