I can address the health of chicks from Eagle2026 Mine are chicks before he perfected his breed line. And they are very hearty and happy. Now that the blood line is perfected to his standards, I am sure they are even better.

OLd ronnie roo WANTS a chicken that LAYS WHITE EGGS, I have FIVE that lay brown. Yes the Delaware is pretty. BUt SO is my Calif. white when it doesn't have brown (Dirt) foot prints all over its back from one horny Rooster

It is no secret that the post on CL is mine.
Right now I have chicks that are from 2 months old right down to this weekends hatch.
That said I would put availability at more than 50.

For the people who order from Sand Hill, just to let you know that all they do is in the old fashioned way of money order or check (I believe) by mail.
They don't use the computer to order or pay pal. It's kinda antique around there.

Hope some of those hatcheries help some of you, or you can visit mine!

I do love my brown and blue/green layers, but I was wanting leghorns for the white eggs. I just want even more variety in my egg basket. That's what 'm working on this year. I'm also considering delawares because they have xlarge rich brown eggs. What I'm wanting most are barnevelders, speckled sussex, BC marans and welsummers

I just love the multi-colored eggs so much!

I do like the looks of the Delaware. I will be interested in how yours does laying. My Calif.white and white leghorn are a lot smaller and eat ALOT LESS than my dual chickens. and since I don't plan on eatting any of my chickens I might shy away from the dual purpose chickens in the future.

Any body know anything about the Ideal 236 chicken?????

I never factor feed in. With only 12, I just figure what I get for eggs is great compared to the feed. Not in this to save money, but rather to save my health by not eating all the awful stuff out there sold as food. So, I also do dual purpose for meat chickens. I haven't yet hatched a clutch for meat chickens. But originally that was the plan. Now I am not sure I can do that. Something about sending my girl's boys to the freezer camp just sits a little bit odd with me right now. But if I hatch, I suppose I will have to do something with the boys. If only we could figure out a way to only hatch females when we want to.

I really want a Pendanesca for my dark egg layer flock. Does anybody plan to get any from Sandhill this next year? I just saw that they only have avail. after June. But if anybody is buying at that time and wouldn't mind adding mine in, I would gladly pay double for 4 Black Pendanesca chicks in order to get good chance at a hen.

The original ad in Monroe is for eagle2026s (Mikes) chicks I believe. I would pay the extra $ to support a BYCer myself.
