This is the fourth day in a row now that my EE Roo has walked into the house and made himself at home for 2 or 3 hours around dinner time. He now has a bowl by the dog food, and we're contemplating a kennel in the back room for him to sleep in. Ladies and Gentlemen, I think we're officially crazy chicken folk. Tailfeathers, this is your baby by the way. Far and away one of the friendliest birds we have here.

His favorite activities are watching tv (he likes Spongebob), and browsing hatchery sites. I think they're maybe like chicken porn?

Sasquatch making himself at home.

The name of this pheasant is:
MELANISTIC MUTANT

and "No" do not put pheasants in with your chickens.

Pheasants are considered a game birds and chickens are considered domestic.

You have to have a separate aviary which you can also put in Quail, Chukar, Turkeys, Peafowl- together. Until breeding season when you will want to separate to keep from cross breeding.

Monrals and Impayans are the same just called two different names.

Nice pickle! Chicken Rustler

Was there anything I missed?

Oh yea,
Wade Jeane is the BCM's that I carry and C1 and C2 and C3 are what different cages that you get from his breeding.
Hence Cage1 Cage2 Cage3 and so on....
Nice eggs! Good looking Birds too!

I have found that shredded paper amongst wadded up paper works better than packing peanuts. The packing peanuts tend to allow for too much movement inside the box. In addition to wadded and shredded paper, I also individually bubblewrap each egg, then tape the carton closed tightly, then bubble wrap the outside of the carton.

I've tried different ways but since doing it this way I don't believe I've had a busted egg yet.

God Bless,

I have never shipped eggs:
I am going to this year though.
I have always had mine arrive in bubble wrap and have saved it all.
Along with the shipping containers for Chukar, Pheasant, Marans, Peafowl and Quail.
There all the same:
Put the eggs into the holder, Put down a layer of bubble wrap, Tape it tight! Then wrap the whole thing in bubble wrap and put it into a no matter what the weight box and ship.
Mine have always come with stickers that say: HATCHING EGGS HANDLE WITH CARE.
I've only had about 3 broken egg arrive out of about 150, maybe more but not much less.
Anything ships, same price is where I'm at.

Matter of fact if someone wants to try me for the first go.......
Mike

DID YA HEAR ??? DW was walking around the barn singing the egg song so loud that I bet it was heard all the way to Canada. She was so eggscited cause she got 12/15 AND 1 from Sicilian Buttercup AND one from OEGB. This is the first time that the last two have laid together. The OEGB had been laying all summer and when it got cold she shut down then the buttercup started. and now they both hit it.

Ron that is just one little block of wood on the splitter. I get about 50 pieces of stove wood out of those. And I don't split my stove wood very small.
Here is the like if ya want to read the story. I have both pics in there.

gah! darn dog went to the neighbors' house or something, not coming back when called. I'm getting so frustrated with her. Can't put her out 5 minutes to go potty without her taking off.

So, this morning I am out singing to my chickens the old chestnut "You must pay the rent" as I was gathering eggs. When I stepped out of the coop I had 3 tween age boys looking over my fence at the chickens on their way to school. So suburbanchickchick, your supposition is now proved. I am officially the crazy chicken lady of Hoquiam. I guess the improvement that the chickens have made for me is that they have pushed me over the edge and I am now at that point where I don't know what normal is...... It is so much fun here. Why don't you come and join me?

I am so needing spring!

I want to get my garden going. I want to see the sun all day long, not just for the middle part of the day. And I want to hear the sound of little cheep cheeps. Since I have decided not to order chicks for February I am feeling withdrawal symptoms. I can't sleep. I keep looking at my MurrayMcMurray catalog and wishing for a white crested black polish. <sigh>

Does anybody on here have poultry actually permanently living in their house? Since seeing that video of the couple with the indoor ducks, I have been wondering if I could do it with a couple of small chickens. They could range on days when I can take them out. I could have a seperate pen from the big chickens. Could it be much different than having a couple of parrots? They would be smaller than a large Parrot by quite a bit. Hmmmmmmmmmm?
