Don't know if someone has already posted this or not so I will. Can't vouch for the validity or accuracy because I haven't checked it out yet. I will tomorrow when I call to put my two-cents in but for now it appears on the face of it to be legit and something everyone on here ought to know:

The Health Board of King County(Seattle metro, but also all rural areas too), which affects all Cities and unincorporated areas is enacting a new Pet Regulations Bill this coming Thursday, January 21st.

The notice was made yesterday afternoon, right before the 3 Day MLK weekend.

The main points though that affect ALL commercial sellers of Poultry, which can include Farms and Feed Stores and Hobbies- is that in King County Poultry will now be classified and regulated as "PETS" not agriculture or livestock. ALL Birds to be exact. But poultry are specifically designated as pets in this law.

This could start a serious trend affecting Poultry folks Nationally.

This Law would regulate Poultry sellers to maintain certain sanitary standards, designed really for a pet shop. It would likely remove the ability of feed stores and farms and home hobbyists to be able to sell their live stock either directly or wholesale.

The law affects Hobby breeders too.

And it also requires that a Poultry Seller, label their birds as a Public Health Hazard for Salmonella. Something akin to a Tobacco warning.

All parrot type birds will require a health hazard warning label too for psittacosis. A mild treatable disease that affected 16 people total last year in the entire US according to the CDC.

There's lots of other bad stuff there too, but the above is just a few things aimed directly at poultry and ALL birds. There is a large rural area to King County, not just Seattle. Lots of Farms and Feed Stores, and Hobby folks.

And this does apply to ALL poultry too, as well as every other kind of animal and pet.

The bottom line though, is that it would set a trend, to move Poultry out of agriculture' s control and oversight. It's not a good precedent to let go through labeling poultry as health hazards either.

Anyway, here's the link. Cut-n-paste and backspace spaces, if Yahoo chews it up.

PLEASE SPREAD THIS EVERYWHERE! If King County passes this, it will affect every bird/animal breeder, poultry breeder, poultry farm, pet shop, and PET/POULTRY BUYER in the country eventually. And it gives a new tactic to make this a Health issue too, which is completely bogus.

Anyway, that's all I can say..... THE VOTE IS THIS THURSDAY- THE 21st. Please do call and email the King County Board of Health, and please do pass this around. Even if you're not in Washington State or King County. If passed, it will spread.

Thank you-

God Bless,

Well if that's the case, my house is germ city

Someone come take my kids away (PLEASE!!!!!) as they're clearly going to die from salmonella and psittacosis, and probably rabies from my dogs.

I haven't heard of pijac in years, good to know they're still around. They're a good group, at one point I was avian certified through them, you had to take a day long course and then a test, a bunch of us in the bird club went together.... I think I was 14 at the time, so my certification expired a long time ago.

Hi everyone!

I have a BR that I think I need to rehome. She is very aggressive with my Marans. SHe drew blood for the second time today. She gets along with everyone else, but chooses to pick on my most shy one. I think she needs to go to a flock that has a rooster. I don't know if anyone wants to try to add her or not, I thought I would put it out there. She is one of my current layers and is friendly, can pick her up, pet her, whatever. Let me know, because if nobody takes her, I might have to cull her. It makes me so sad, and I don't want to, but I may need to.

I would feel better if she was able to be integrated into a flock.

Ron Sure come on down. House is pretty small but can set ya up in the travel trailer and got 13 acres for Quincy to teach Kala how to hunt rodents and play in the mud. Don't have room for too many more chickens right now but we can see who lives close with a coop we can just winch onto the truck/ trailer.

LaSobra Yes they still have green cows. And if we decide to do a hatchery order we will be ordering like 50+ you could add on if ya want. This will be pretty cool the DN is going to buy ALL of the birds and pay for feed. All DW and I have to do is put them in our barn and raise em. As Justbugged can tell ya I have a fairly good brooding pen. I have actually found mice that got in, ate too much and couldn't get back out. Sucked to be them Quincy loves plush squeaky toys.

She is in chicken jail, AGAIN. I will leave her in longer this time. I think last time was 5-6 days though. I will try again and see what happens. I don't mind if she is head hen and makes sure everyone knows it, But I draw the line at drawing blood. I am not sure if she did it this time or not, but I am very suspicious. My Marans butt was picked bloody, and I checked her for bugs and didn't see a thing. She may be doing it herself, who knows. I will wait it out and work with them, but I am tired of being worried of what I am going to come home to every evening. Thanks for the suggestion. I am going to put New Skin on the sore tomorrow morning so that the blood smell is covered. GREAT STUFF!

Yeah one of my phoenix roos (Ned) is in chicken jail.. longer this time, we did the 3 day thing, but I'm thinking a week so that his brother Ted and our EE Sasquatch can sort it out. Ned was getting so bad to the point that he was chasing the EE in to the HOUSE to whup him.. So he needs some taking down a peg or two. Pity because he's the more handsome of the phoenixes. He's nice with us, just gives poor Sasquatch a hard time.

Well, keep me informed. I'm not going to order until next month anyway so if you figure it out by the time I'm ready to order, I might add on. So far, I am most interested in Welp hatchery at this point. They seem to have what I want (besides the barnevelders and BC marans, but I can get those from elsewhere).

Whoever wanted the california leghorns, Welp has those, by the way

OK, I'm mad.

The blue/black/splash ameraucana eggs I bid on from ebay... they came 3 broken, 2 cracked, other three w/ broken air cells. I put them under my broody anyway and they didn't develop. I sent them a message via ebay and got no response from them...

so I left negative feedback. "5 of 8 broken eggs. others w/broken air cell. NO message response after 3 days"

I just checked their feedback page and they responded to the feedback: "offered replacement, they agreed. breakage was PO fault. answered every email."

That is an out and out lie! I agreed to what exactly???

Tailfeathers. First of all I don't sell poultry. Not sure if I ever will but that's not the point of my anger.

I went to the King County link.
Once again it's all about the money.
They use fear to get to your $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$!!!
Same old tired tactic the government cons use over and over again.

They will make HUGE $$$ if this passes.
Permits for businesses that don't currently have them and permit fees for those that do will go up.

It is hard enough to have a business in this state.
The red tape business owners go through to survive is unreal.

The Money Trail rears it's ugly head again.

People need to read their CONSTITUTION!

Enough is ENOUGH!
