Tam -

Thanks! I am hoping that either way I can get some hens in the very near future. I am working on the coop and was looking forward to my hens...

Oh well... It gives me a few more minutes to focus on the coop, I suppose - I'm converting part of my shed into the coop.

On your offer, price and availability?

Monroe is no problem. We have some friends out in that area and could easily make a day out of it!

Thanks again - Steve

What Wa4-H... said. Potatoes don't mind the cold. A few years ago I didn't feel like harvesting mine. I figured they'd rot away. Lo and behold they came back the next year bigger & stonger. I've also, in the past, left them in the ground and harvested slowly during the winter. But I have had a few rot in the ground too.

and Illia,
Did get snow here, but not much. It got cold, but don't think any plants will suffer. I held my breath for awhile.
And congrats on the eggs, chicks, and plants.

Russ

We grow fingerling potatoes and blue potatoes - The blues do amazingly well, even for our coastal, not so warm, and not so sunny weather. And oh my goodness are they delicious!! Especially as fries.

Imp: Thanks. It hailed twice today and that was it. Now it's just raining and really windy. Supposed to get warmer from here on out.

Anna, Do you happen to have the number from the man who was selling those storage crates on craigslist this summer? I need about 7 of them and can't find his listing anymore. Or does anyone else have it? I know there was a lot of interest in them and we kept reposting the ad.

Update why I haven't been around: The neighbors finally got around to filing a formal complaint against our waterfowl. We had already been in contact with the city via our attorney so called him instead of sending out the letter, buying us more time to move out all the breeding stock (they say we have to move all, but we are going to fight for our pets). I've been busting my butt trying to find a place for them.

Finally, in part thanks to Helaine, I found a 60 acre organic farm to not only let me lease use of their grazing fields, but they also offered me a full time job. To top it off, they would like me to learn everything I can about raising egg and meat chickens so that they can offer it as part of their CSA. For those that don't know, I've been looking for a farm internship for a long time, so this is a dream come true

I start Friday!

Now I have to move the flock and need housing. If it were still frozen I could move a shipping container out there, but alas the truck right now would tear up the field getting to my spot. SO... I would really like the number to that guy with the shipping crates.

Does anyone have a local line out to anyone hatching out copper marans?

You know, sometimes nasty neighbors aren't so bad

What she said.. I bought mine from a warehouse that was moving and didn't need it anymore... Let me know if you need help hauling. Super Reggie isn't as robust as some trucks, but he can do the job for short/small haul.

If you want to get any chicks this summer, let me know. I am looking for someone to split an IDEAL order with (I'm getting my first meaties!)

You had me till you said Ideal..

I need 7 or 8, I think I'll pay for them to get delivered at the same time. Thank you though, Anna!
