are you getting your bees from beez kneez? we have 3 hives for the last 4 years and love them. made the most awesome candles in the fall. Bees are easier than chicks and smell better : )

No I am getting mine from a local supplier who will actually be driving to CA next week to pick up about 100 "packages" of bees and other supplies. I also have a colony to go extract from a building when the time is right. www.sherwoodbees.com

Hi to all from dark gloomy wet western WA!

It looks like I might have a BLRW roo to rehome...........they are only 8 weeks right now but am pretty sure
that 2 of my 3 st runs are roos and I will only be keeping one.......am hoping to find a nice friendly home for whichever
one goes - - that decision will be made later...........they are NOT hatchery birds - - they are from a gal in Yelm who hatches
chicks on a regular basis.

I just wanted to put the word out in hopes someone might be the least bit interested - - and I won't have to go the CL route.....

Here are a couple of pics - - they are pretty much identical altho one is a bit larger - -

- - - on a side note - - the chicks have been out in their run and coop for over 4 weeks now with a heat lamp - I always try to manage to get out there to shut the pop door before dark............last nite it was completely dark when I headed out there..........shined the flashlight around to make sure all were inside and lowered the pop door...................imagine my surprise when I went to let them out this morning and there was one of these roo's there to greet me in the run.........OMGosh I made you spend the nite outside!!!!!!!!!!! I felt so bad as the temp was hovering just around 40F - - - he looked no worse for wear and I noticed he had a nice little bed made in the hay that I have in one corner! ~~~~Whew! So sorry buddy!

Jean- let me know if they don't. If they don't, I can manage to bring a couple runners. Because they are so messy in a brooder and there are only a couple of them, I won't bring them unless someone requests them.

How do you know those dudes are dudes? Have they been crowing? They look beautiful. Wish we were down in Eatonville, too!

Well being new to chickens I am not 100% sure ...
hmm.png
.......but their
wattles and combs are much redder and larger then my other chicks -

- the other chick in that straight run is a splash and has no comb
or wattles at all - so I guess that is what I am basing it on.........

Comparing them to the other Wyandotte chicks I have they are
definitely different - my gold-laced has somewhat of a comb but very
little wattle and the SL have none at all - - I hope I am wrong and there is only
one roo - but would not bet my next payday on it!

Mine are just in kiddie pools as well (easy to change refill with clean water every day).

Where is Beez kneez. I attended a class at the cattelsmans winter school in stanwood this year and the owner was the speaker. I looked it up online and couldn't find a # I thought he was in snohomish. I wanted to get some houses for mason bees there.

I'm anxious to see them (and still hoping for a blue Silkie roo?)

Yes,.. I need to send you pics of the blue silkie roo and we need to discuss the details. He's looking great, for his age he looks top notch. I have a black roo I'm holding back, as well as a couple others so I am still planning on letting him go. His body will get broader with age. He's a nice boy.
