Guys, you simply *must* go to the show. It is fantastic. I went last year as a visitor, and I am going this year as an exhibitor. I will have some silkies for sale- probably one or two white cockerels and some 3 month old chicks.

Okay So does anyone know of any where

to get some ducks with the BIG crests? Anybody? I do not care what kind just Big Crests!

They are soooo cute I have 1/2 acre pond that needs Ducks in it!

My chickens love me! I know this has absolutely nothing to do with this thread but it was so cute I have to tell someone who understands! We just got the girls into the new coop Saturday night. We have a few minor things to wrap up but they're in there and they're happy!

This afternoon I was standing by the coop talking to DH on my cell phone when I heard the window rattle behind me. I turned around to see my little chickens taking turns jumping up to see me out the window! They heard me talking and were trying to find me! lol They're so cute! (And I don't care if they were just hoping for a treat! It was still fun!)

so chicken update.

i am buried with eggs.... i have some in the egg washer right now... i think i will have 12 dozen saved up after a week..... i have noone to sell them to. my family fruitstand isnt open yet. it will be in a few weeks with aspearagus...

the chicken with the broken toenail that i clipped is doing well
so well in fact that at 6.30pm today she laid an egg for me, but i am keeping her isolated for another day. the toe tip is looking good so far, clotted nicely, no new bleeding, still slightly swollen. and it walks on it some, (like walking on lava...)

sigh. my parents are going to hate me... by the time i go off to WSU in august we will have 57 chickens..... my poor mom and boyfriend will have to take over the job for 2 years....(dad doesn't like chickens)

so every day it is getting harder to find the egg laying spots that are not designated egg laying nests.... i am about ready to take a flame torch to the whole hillside....

We now have three regulars who want a total of 5 dozen a week, about a customer every other day who come through for 1-2 dozen, another new customers who wants almost 2 dozen hatching eggs, and our own family who wants eggs. . . And our girls only pump out a dozen a day.

REALLY can't wait until all our cheepies start laying, then we'll have a LOT of eggs and a LOT of happy customers - Green, blue, chocolate, orange, brown, pink, white, and tan eggs galore!!

Ditto.. I started selling to a guy at work, and then he told another guy, who was overheard telling another guy... and so on.. and everyone wants chicken, but REALLY wants duck eggs. I only have 3 confirmed layers in the ducks, although I'm wondering now.. I actually stopped and bought 6 more pullets to help boost production a few months down the road I should have coturnix starting to lay about July I think,

Hey Ron I think I can feel a road trip coming up for us. Did ya see Nyrial is gonna be out of town and her DH will be too busy caring for the little one to notice that when not fed chickens will wither and blow away. SSSSSHHHHHHH don't tell

I have a really pretty egg basket too.. Olive, blue, terracotta, brown.. and yes Ron, even a couple white.
Did I mention I had a perfect 12 for 12 the other day from my main flock?
I don't count the bantam coop yet because they're just coming into laying age, so that's not fair to them to hold them to such high standards as the perfect girls who are the first and the best.

(ETA: They got extra range time for being so awesomely awesome)

Good luck getting past the ducks of death! (Unless you have lettuce)
