Illia, just cruised your web site, beautiful !
And have a Q about the March 25th post about the babies there in the pictures:
There in several pictures is a chick with what appears to be leopard spots, like a pheasant chick only bigger.
I know alot of chicken babies have this coloring, are these all ameracuana (sp?) in various colors ?
What is this 'leopard spotted' chick ?
He(she) is adorable, all are, in fact.
I love the bright minty green eggs !
You certainly have your work cut out for you !

I have not yet gotten into the showman/womanship of chickens.
I have so many habits/hobbies and projects already.
DH would leave me for sure if I got into chicken showing...and we have gorgeous California rabbits, too,.
I thought for sure he would leave me when I went through my koi years (see my Chickielady Photobucket.com 3 albums posted so far, one with a short video of my broody Lucille (BO) and what appears to be hundreds of BR chicks !
So have to look at 'penciling' on my 5 lt brahmas, got them last year in a shipment of 25 from Murray McMurray.

Yup, we got our Brahmas from McMurray too.

I don't show birds yet, but will as soon as my good boys and girls grow old enough. . . I'll most likely only show the boys though, as they can take the whole scenario a little better. My Ameraucanas especially are the sweetest cockerels I've ever known, and they're only 2 months old.

my next project is to begin building a home, foundation first and that will begin in about 1 monthOr less.
We got here on nothing but bare land, a road, and a septic tank installed (thank GOD !!!)
So we are taking up space in a 12x16 foot mini barn while we build hen houses at ligtening speed...when we got here a few months ago, we arrived in a mini van with 10 chickens in dog crates, and 5 rabbits also in individual crates, and it was getting dark, so they were all happy to go back asleep.
But it has been a chore to keep up with the growing pains.
So no quilting or painting for a while for me.

Sure do miss it.
ETA: Although my fiber arts skills are nothing to brag about. I stick out like a sore thumb in my family there. Mom and both sisters sew, knit, crochet and/or do other things to varying degrees, I can barely sew a straight seam.

Finally got my bees today!!!!! Brought em home and with the help of one of my great neighbors we got them installed in the hive. I did get initiated (stung) once on the finger but hey when ya consider I was dumping 4lbs of bees ( about 40,000) out of a "cage" into the hive. I think that is pretty good. Considering we didn't suit up.

Ditto here - Except it's my mom that is fatally allergic to them, so. . . No bees.

Well my hatch is done. Here's how it went:

5/9 BC Marans
5/15 BW Ameraucanas

10/11 BBS Jersey Giants
1/1 Polish x EE
0/3 BBS Ameraucanas

The Blue Wheatens came from peachick here on BYC. The BBS came from Heidi here on BYC. The sad part is that the Blue Wheatens had 100% fertility, no problems. When I chucked the eggs though, I noticed one of the BBS was severely bloodringed, another was still alive but kicking around in liquid like a pre-lockdown chick. . .

Did anyone go to the show in Stevenson today? I ventured over from Portland, such a beautiful drive, lot's of gorgeous birds there, I got out lucky w/o any purchases, but I fell in love with the few serama chickens they had.
