oh yeah, and over on the far right is a full sald bar complete with a tub of cottage cheese

and my strpt throat was taken care of with a spary of inhaler steroid, asthma cort....just my hyperactive immunal system over reacting to pollen, yes I need local honey to acclimate my immunal system !
Plus the blue splash marans, should pip in the next 24, and next week the 18 cuckoo marans should pip, and I still have to put up a new roost/poop pit tray in the big hen house.
That will be 3 henhouses now~~~~~
Oh, and I told DH about the turkey & guines eggs coming from Bargain in georgia...and he froze. OH no...but he is OK now, I had to pamper him a whole day, all day, and take him to the sportsman show, favorite steak dinner, back rub, haircut, you name it, and he is fine now !!!!

the laced brahmas are beautiful, but I am not going there. My brahmas are just fine.
Got a splash roo and a cuckoo roo, and we will see what weird thing hatches out in a few years time...for $800 I could get my foundation going in, and cut a few of these huge trees....

Zgoatlady, I see you're in Enumclaw. Is the livestock auction still going down there? 25 years ago, I purchased my first 3 layers there for a whopping bid of $4.50! I got a RIR and 2 BR. The beginning of my love affair with backyard chickens. About a month after buying those hens, I went back to the auction to see if I could get a couple more and I came home with the sweetest little Banty and her 7 chicks. 4 of those turned out to be roos, so it was back to the auction to sell those. At the time, I was living in Federal Way so it wasn't such a long drive. But, if the auction is still in business, I'd gladly drive the 2 1/2 hours to go - even if just for "old time's sake."

In spite of a Winnie the Pooh blustery day, I managed to get all the painting done on the run today. God willing, I'll get some wire up tomorrow. Will post a couple of pics of my new set up soon. Meantime, let me introduce my girls - 6 of the sweetest Light Brahmas. I'm new to this breed and loving their temperament and those feathered feet. I haven't seen "laced" Brahmas. Do you know, are they crossed with a Wyandotte or is the lacing the result of selective breeding? Just curious.

I love your coop chickielady.... I bought babies from the feed store and they look almost the same "feather" development as yours..do you mind telling me how old they are? I was thinking of putting mine out in the coop with just one lamp incase they got cold..they are starting to become quite the escape artists from the pen in the garage LOL..

Another way to warm your birds is to build a "warming hut" which was featured in Mother Earth about a year ago...use a big (high enough) plastic tub or 25 to 55 gallon plastic drum, cut a door on the bottom so they can get in, and set up a heat lamp in the 'ceiling' of the drum/tub, high enough so it will not burn them or ignite the bedding...seal the entranceces of the wire with silicone so as to prevent wet wires...and the birds can come in whenever they are chilled, also works for ducks, geese, etc and with a big enough tub or drum cut a big enough hole, a baby goat or lamb can get in just fine and warm...look it up in mother earth news if you need details: "Building a Warming Hut"


The Blue Splash Marans (huge dark eggs !) are pipping and rolling around the bator EVEN AS I WRITE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the Cuckoo Mrans eggs have 8 days to go, or so...those are rather small eggs I bought but we shall see what developes there.
Gotta go visit Mom and Dad and will write more when we get back, and should have lots of baby chicks hatched !

So apparently my "quick fix" of putting the dog house in the coop and seperating the run does nothing...lol. Three times now I have to fetch a hen from the little girls coop, and little girls from the hens' run. Oh well.....The hens don't want the little guys in the dog house so I'll just leave the layer ration in there for them and scoot the dog house back. Darn chickens - don't want to make it easy on me
