can you put her in a cat carrier or box in the house or somewhere warm and start her on an antibiotic in her water, give it to her every so often slowly with the eye dropper ?
I would keep her from other chicks, too !

This is the chick that I'm worried about.

Oh and I still have no idea what she is. Any guesses?

Oh and am I right in thinking these are silkys and not frizzles?

Oh and look at these little guys! Their crests are getting big!

sugar water evey so often sounds good, not too sweet, and not every time, they need regular water as well.
I use tetracycline hydrocloride soluble powder and directions to mix a batch on the foil bag...and cut it down until you make a gallon or half gallon, cover and keep in the fridge.
I think I use .75 oz powder to 1.5 gallons water, cut the ratio in half again if you want to mix less....see what I mean ?
This stuff is at every feed store and you can keep it in a ziplock in the frdge for a long time, then mix it up when you have a problem.
Hope she is OK, I want to see how she grows out !
Keep her warm, too !
I do not know what else it could be but a cold unless they were exposed to some other birds or contamination ?

i am tired of the rain. my digital rain gague says in the past 24 hours we have gotten .50" not including wednesdays storm which was almost .8+ its crazy here. the plants are happy but at the same time none of us are used to all this moisture.
i live 10 minutes from leavenworth.

they are doing well. the tenative date for all but 3 of the eggs is 6-13-10 the other 3 are 6-14-10
one egg broke. the australorp and the buff orphington are sharing duties well. when one gets up to relieve its self the other horards the eggs. so i am happy these are getting better coverage than the last batch. the silkie has 7 eggs i moved one over there because this one egg kept sticking out a little from the big hens.

i tried candling liek you all do on day 7 but i couldn't tell anything except all were fertile the shells are so thick you can barely see anything. i think one or 2 eggs went bad because i see 2 air sacs in it. at both ends. but i am just too nervous to cull the eggs. i would rather have my bf do that on day 25. the flashlight i use is a led one. the shells are jsut too thick and dark colored.

here is a question. when the eggs hatch (i assume some will, my hatch rate can't get worse from 3 out of 11 in the last try)
i have all 3 broodies in a pen together. the silkie has its own box and the 2 hens share a doghouse. what will happen when they chicks are running around will the hens be as sharing in the duties of overseeing or will they fight. i am thinking when some hatch i will kick the australorp out because i want it laying again and the buff o is molting (no feathers on its neck so i assumed because there are no signs of actual pecking. in actually it is the bossy one. and the buff and silkie can be babysitters in the same pen together (the silkie i got for free as a cheap incubator and is too old to lay)

I was told at the feed store that the last two picks are bantam Polish. When I brought the Polish home, they were pure white, and over the past week they have turned a pretty cream color. Dont know what color they will be when grown, but they sure are cute.

Is this the dark one you were talking about?

Was told that what I think are Silkys were supposed to be frizzles. But I just dont think that the kid at cenex knew very much. lol

As for my sick little one, I really dont mind what she is, so long as she pulls out of whatever is wrong with her. Though I have noticed that her weazing seems to be happening less often, but it might just be wishful thinking on my part.

This little one has got to be a Cuckoo Marans, has pink legs and the mottled light spots, not barring, and no grey legs.
The sick one is a splash something I think...the kid at the Cenex did not know what they were ! :lol
Hope they pull through.
Sometimes I think waiting to see what kind of chicken they will be is more fun than knowing in the first place, alot like having a baby, too !
Got the antibiotics ?
Just being nice and warm may help alot if they have a cold.
I had a full grown Cuckoo Cathy start sneezing a few days ago and she sneezed for 45 minutes so bad she could not walk.
I carried her into a big rabbit hutch, gave her straw and the sulpha water with a bit of sugar just like we talked about, she was fine, just she must have hay fever
