In my upper coop I have two broodie hens sitting in the same nest box. Still, somehow those other hens squeeze into that box and lay eggs for the broodies to sit on. They have about 2 dozen eggs in there now. I keep taking some out and the other hens keep supplying more.
The same thing is going on in my lower coop, only now I have 3 hens brooding the same eggs. I haven't even looked to see how many are under those girls, but I'm sure there are plenty.
In the lower coop they will be a good mix because my rooster is Americana and I have 2 Americana hens. Don't know if I will be able to tell the difference between the Americana chicks and the EE chicks from my other hens.

lucky you! I wanted to go fishing today but BF took the truck to go to the dunes and I have no way to get my boat out on the lake! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR Guess I can go work on the coop instead! lol

I introduced the girls to cracked corn today. They loved it. I want to use it for training purposes, so that's good. I gave it to them in a small shallow can. That really brought the pecking order to the fore. Blondie is top hen, followed by, Carmen, Roz, and finally Ginger. I'm not surprised that Ginger is on the bottom. She's the youngest and smallest. But I figured Carmen, being biggest would be top hen, and she's not.

sigh. the subscription thingy isn't letting me know of new posts liek it should. well tomorrow is the hatch date. 3 weeks ago i stuck eggs under 3 broodies. 2 that are sharing a nest and another nest has a silkie they are all isolated in the same pen.
despite having 2 broodies on the same nest there always seems to be the same egg sticking out from under the buff o.

moved the 33 chicks into their new pen. no more tractor. course no more neww grass to eat.... oh well its a rade off. nothing will grow in the dirt in their new pen but they have alot more room to run.

got 10 eggs today since fencing in eggs. saw a certain egg i havent seen in the nests in weeks. thinks this fencing in this has some benefits.

soon my chickens will be super spoiled again. cherry season has arrived at our fruitstand. our friends orchard down in Finley, WA his Chelan cherries were ready. so chickens get to have culls from the sorting. the new chicks have no clue about what to do with the cherries but the chickens from last year go bonkers. more effective than chicken crack.


Need a reccomendation.

What is a good way to kill lice? my chickens got it bad. i duted them a few weeks ago. but it is such a hassle. is there a certain insecticide shampoo for dogs that i can used and just dunk the chicken in a bucket of this? already put DE and the Dusting stuff on some chcickens and in their dust bath areas.

My Walduck Astoria Hotel is DONE!!!!! The quackers LOVE it!!! I was going to bring them in for the night but the went into their penthouse suite and are sleeping!!! Is it always this easy?

Hopefully I can keep up with you guys on here! I can't afford a new computer and in order to fix and bump up my old one the shop said it would be about $350-400!!!! It has caused major grief in my house. My twins have 4 classes that they have major finals in and of course all their info that they have been working on for a month is all on the old computer!!!

Ok gotta run. It takes forever to type this on a dumb Ipod!!!!

Please go get other quotes. Shop is trying to take advantage of you.

If you have to in order to get by go to Craigs.
You can get used ones for under a $100.00
Then take both computers to another shop and have them switch out your hard drives.
Use that older computer till you can afford a better one later.

You can buy desk tops there for cheap.
They are minus the operating system.
Hopefully you saved your dish and key number?
If not borrow a neighbors.

I bought my kids their computer there a few years a go. It's just as fast as my new one.

They also have cheap monitors there.

Yep, you are rolling the dice buying used.
But over the years I have bought TV's, Monitors, Computers, other items from there saving myself a substantial amount of $$$!!!​
