That and the fact that a lake like Clearlake is landlocked and is supported only by rain falls.
There is no river poring into it.
Since there were record droughts for 7 or 8 years, the lake water was never "flushed" and replenished.
On super rainy years the runoff brings in so many tons of silt and topsoil...it is a relatively shallow lake, and some day it will just be a big swishy swamp...unless man steps in and dredges the silt out.
On our fish finder out in the deepest part of the lake it would read something like 35 feet of water and 15 or 20 feet of silt, then rock or clay.
So after a rainfall, the runoff fills the lake, excess runs out Cache Creek, and goes to a Dam that is owned by an entirely differnet county who has the water right to that creek..(a medium sized river) and opens it up to irrigation in the Sacramento valley...and after a few spring weeks, the lake level drops and drops, until some people are high and dry, and complain.
This year I hear they have gotten alot of water, so hopefully the birds and fish are OK.

You are so right about this being really scary. The inhumane slaughter practices is equally horrifying. It sad that so many people have no access to education. And the money being spent is just a big waste.

There is 2 blacks from LOoraine and yes 3 chocolates from Monroe Feed store. They are about 10 weeks old now!!!

The 3 chocos are definitely female and named Palmer, Hershey, and Dove! (After chocolate companies!)

The 2 blacks I am pretty sure are male but we still named them Midnight and Shaniqua! Wishful female thinking! '

Anyone ever had a hen that stopped laying for 6wks+? My BO has stopped laying, and I don't know why. I stopped feeding then so many treats, incase she had gained weight. I am waiting to see if that helps. Any ideas? thoughts?
