I have a guest chicken tonight. She is a little grumpy about having to go to bed in a strange place. But I feel better that she is not out wondering around the neighborhood tonight. I think I know who's chicken it is. What I am surprised about is how many of my neighbors have chickens. I hope her owners either answer their door tomorrow or look for their chicken. I would have popped her back in their back yard but the dog was looking a little to happy to see us. She is the friendliest chicken I have ever met. She likes to be carried around and have her head scratched. She doesn't like me to just stand still and hold her. Who ever own's her has done the worst job of clipping wings I have ever seen. I am going to have to take picture of it, if just to show how not to do it.

Ron I am so sorry that the bull didn't make it. He was quite the hansom stud muffin.

like I said even Kim climbed up on his back. The sad thing is when the firemen were pulling him back up the bank by his legs. we ALL thought he was dead. Then to have him come back to life and be his old self and then having to put him down that was hard . The poor guy just couldn't get up. He would drag himself around on his front knees. The marks he made with his back legs were like two parallel lines. Well I saw those same marks in the dirt along the fence the night before when I couldn't find him. One of the older cow people that came to help (and there were several) said when a cow is sick or hurt they look for low ground to get to, to die. So we think thats what happen. He just wouldn't wander off from his girls.

I think the cow people stick together and help each other out. even if they don't know each other. It reminded me of the people right here on BYC. Always ready to help if they can with there time,or material things or even money. Still alot of GOOD people in the World. Well at least in Wash. State

I am sorry you had to go through all that. I know the cows aren't your favorite, but Fred was cool! Taz will be sad to hear about this. I saw that you called yesterday, I was in Kingston at my sister in law's, for their anual 4th of July Party. It was fun.

hope everyone had a safe and happy 4th!

i saw that silkie egg post too - but the subject says 12+ eggs blah blah, so i took it to mean you were buying a dozen+, and that she has 3 dozen+ available..... i am still firmly telling myself no. NO.

BUT please, enablers out there - i am still trying to find some day old chicks to slip under one of my broodies.... candled the eggs they're sitting on and i've got 8 good lil eggies, but 3 broody girls. i'd really like the one who's been broody longest to just "hatch" some and be done! maybe i will just cave and order some........ i was just hoping to not have to pay shipping. argh.

day old chicks??? anyone, anyone??? i only need like 3 or 4. preferably of a non-broody breed! lol

(summer is gonna be here this week! woot!)

Aw crap, I've got the opportunity to buy a used commercial incubator for 270 chicken eggs, but only 1/2 what the woman is asking for (I only budget $150). Anyone want a gently used GQF Sportsman Model 1202A Basic Egg Incubator and has $300 for it?

She's in Snohomish.

ANYONE IN THE BONNEY LAKE AREA -want half a 5 gallon bucket of Purina Flock Raiser crumble? I have to get rid of it tomorrow!!!

I leave for Mexico and I need my feed bucket empty so I can put the new pellets in. The person taking care of my babies needs it to as simple as possible and the buckets labeled "duck food" need to have exactly what I want them fed. Does this make any sense?'
