A nice couple and their 2 kids did pick him up! Fingers crossed. They were oohing and ahhing over what a handsome guy he is so hopefully that's a good sign.

Now we're looking for a young lady. Maybe we'll head over to Enumclaw next weekend!
Thanks,
Julie

Does anyone know anything about the swap meet at King Feed in Eatonville on Saturday? I was thinking of getting rid of a few extra birds, but don't know if I'd be better off to just go to Enumclaw as usual. I have a few araucana pullets and some little roos.

I think I ordered the right people for you. It's like ask the universe and sometimes you get what you want. Now if that just worked with the lotto.

The lovely berg of Olalla, near Gig Harbor, which is cross the bridge from Tacoma. Our claim to fame is Starvation Heights, ugly history, a fabulous historical church and absolutely nuttin else. I like it that way. I'm new to the chicken game but waiting for my chicken oeder on August 6. So excited!!!

Hey downtown Olalla at least has a store.

When I was really really young my folks lived on the other side of the passage from Olalla. There was a resort on Vashon Island that they helped the original owners with. It was named Lizabeulla (spelling?) It's kind of sad it doesn't even show on the map anymore. I do remember Uncle Ralph rowing us across the passage to the store. For hime and his wife it was the closest store.

Anyway Gammy; Welcome to the Washington thread. Also how many chirps, what kind of breeds are you catering to?

PS Larry and Larry, 2 dude hummingbirds just came by to say hello to everyone. I think I better go make humming buzzard food before they try and kill me.

Hi Everyone,

So, I've ended up with a rooster in my city flock. Must re-home or have chicken soup. I've heard of some Rooster Rescue farm, or some "Rooster Lady"...anyone have the details?

Or if you send your roos to freezer camp, do you process them yourselves, or take them somewhere??? I'm in the Eastside Seattle area.

Help!

My DH and I processed 28 meat birds this spring ourselves. It is really not all that hard. We did just skin the birds, and did not pluck any feathers. I also de-boned all of the meat, except for the legs and wings.

I came across an idea for serving the neck that I will try myself next time. I am going to use my pruning shears. DH has been doing the deed with a really sharp kitchen knife, but I am scared that I won't have the strength to cut through the bone. So I am going to try it next time. With all the info on here about processing you can't hardly go wrong if you need to do the deed.

There have been a lot of roos post on hear lately, but unless it is pure breed, and very good quality stock I haven't seen there be a lot of takers for the roos.

Also there is the auction out here in Enumclaw. You can just drop the roo off before 10:30 am, and you will get a check in the mail for 60% of what the bird sold for by Tuesday or Wednesday.
