Peppermint,
I'm not sure of the rooster program you are referring to.
You can check with your butcher, some will clean them if you do the dirty deed.
I know some people (as justbugged mentioned) process birds themselves.

On the chicken lovers meet-up group, there has been processing classes. If you want this direction, let me know. I've kept my contacts for this thinking that our GLW was a roo...

Good luck.

Ok...tell me about this Enumclaw auction. And are there any auctions up north a little further, like Monroe? I don't care if I get any money for him, I just want someone else to love him or have Sunday dinner.

Any one else know about this Rooster Sanctuary???

at the end of the freeway take a right, then your first right(across from the fair grounds.") there is a ranch store you can give him to them and they will pen him with their unwanted birds from others. by the way i have about 35 lbs of medicatted feed, i do not need anymore because mine are laying soon. Do you want it?

I've been to that feed store...those birds in the pen look so sickly. I need to get up the nerve to knock her/him upside the head, but I'd rather see if someone needs a pretty rooster.

Thanks for the offer on the medicated feed...I have enough for now and my girls should be laying soon too.

I think I ordered the right people for you. It's like ask the universe and sometimes you get what you want. Now if that just worked with the lotto.

Unfortunately this is one of those gray areas, where if you are serious about get rid of your roo, and can't stand the idea that someone could use it for cock fighting, then you may end up culturally profiling. Most looking looking for fighting cocks are looking for bigger more mature roos. That seems to be my experience learned from watching what is being bought at auction and by whom. So a little research on what cultures are more apt to be involved in cock fighting, might help. All you can do sometimes is pray that your gut instinct is right and pray for the best. Hopefully you get a nice couple and their little kids come and pick him up. Best wishes

PS if you ever get a chance the auction in Enumclaw is a very educational experience for anyone with chicken. it starts at 11:00 am every Saturday. Anyone can sell their birds, and bunnies there if you get the critter there before 10:30am There is even live music, and a cafe for breakfast. I must say there is better food in town at the Kettle.

It upsets me slightly when I look into my coffee and there is a dead body floating in it.

I think I have most of my cockerels and pullets figured out now. I'm not 100% on the barnevelders, but I think I only have 1 roo! Anyway, I do have some extra roos in the coop. I have 1 extra blue ameraucana roo (real ameraucana), 1 extra black copper marans roo, and maybe 1 mix of EE/buff brahma. It might be a girl, but I'm starting to suspect roo.

I do have a couple other extra roos, but I doubt anyone would want them. One is a 6 month EE/RIR cross and the other is a mean EE roo.

Anyone who is interested, please PM me
