Boy, that's the pits.

I was just sitting here thinking about how I'm going to lay my hands on 4 frizzles next spring without shipping. I know chicks have been being shipped forever, but ...
I'd still like to do a pick up

I'm in SW Washington and spring is a long way away, but a girl can dream.

Okay: I don't want to play Real Estate Agent...but that is my job.

I live in Omak, WA .... we are pretty North Central/Eastern WA. We are about 50 miles from the Canadian border. If interested I can try and answer most of your questions.
Right now gotta run to the store...but will answer later.

Were did you read this? Do you have a link ? Have any idea why it is illegal? ..Most likely cause you are not paying the water company ( I dont really know)

Michael. The best area's that fit the majority of your needs are in Eastern Washington.
Buy up high, more snow. More sun over there on East side.

Living off grid just don't look at your energy needs from the sun.
Try to find a property with a creek going through it.
You can generate power with the water if you have any elevation drop in creek bed.
Small enough creek where you know it doesn't effect fish you can make the creek work for you.
Just don't go around town talking about how you did it.

Might even look into wind power if you live high up.

I'd look into the Tonaskit, Republic, Omak area's like Concunally. Most of those area's are just like the West side with trees but more extreme temperatures.
There is a lot of desert like land over there also but no need to buy in those area's still plenty of decent tree land left.

Here is a few websites to get an idea. I like the first one best. I use it the most............

In some states harvesting rain water is illegal because they have such a lack of water in the ground.
Because we rust, not tan in Washington State there is a real good reason why you can buy rain barrels every where here.

Michael--what's your price range? There is a house just up the road from me for sale....we get LOTS of snow & we're very close to the ski hill. Not too much rain but this house does have a creek and a pond. LOTS of sunshine--probably more than 300 days of it per year...there's really not much regulation up here as long as you keep to yourself.

My husband is a school teacher here in Okanogan and there is 4-H and FFA here. Omak is pretty desert-like but Pleasant Valley & Methow Valley are more green and higher up (more snow). The Loup Loup Pass (where I live) gets a lot of snow.
Here is the house I was thinking of....

Ok everyone. I have had a really tough week, and have thought long and hard. I have to rehome my chickens.
hit.gif

I came to this desicion today when I lost two clients at once. So, I really need to downsize, and the chickens are much easier to place than horses.

So I have 2 White Wyandottes they are around 20 months old and lay every day, 1 Easter egger who is around 18 months old she also lays blue eggs every day, 2 unknown breed possibly mixes that are 20 weeks old, "I'm guessing they are getting close to laying." 1 what I think is a Buff Rock who is 17 weeks old, 1 Polish roo who is sweet and 17 weeks old, and 1 Silky who is 17 weeks old.

They are a goofy looking flock with the Silky and Polish thrown in. But they are somewhat friendly, will eat out of your hand, allow you to pick them up, and ect... I figured I would post them here before turning to Craigslist...

I will try to post some pictures tonight.

Thanks for any help.

This morning, the crows were making a racket like in the Hitchcock movie. Curious, I went outside to see what was up. There was this big, bald eagle sitting under trees with Roz in it's claws! I ran at it, and chased it across the yard (in my jammies and pink robe). It dropped Roz, and she took off, and hid behind the woodpile. It had pulled out all her back feathers in preparation of eating her alive, but other than that she doesn't seem too badly wounded. I poured some iodine solution on her back (I think I asked the pharmacist his weirdest questions of the week). Now, I need to locate some Blue-Kote so the other chickens won't peck her wound when she's ready to go back out. Where does one find blue-kote in Seattle?

I will never begrudge the crows the feed they steal again. I think they have a nest in or near our yard. Thank God! Why do the predators always go for one's favorite?

Good advice!

About ten years ago a General Contractor i use to work for moved over to Cheleah.[sp]

He called me up wanting me to move over there. He told me he went down to some county office can't remember which one but where you get building permits.
He asked if he needed a permit for a garage and they laughed at him.
He loves it there. He had enough of dealing with Bellevue's inspection and permit process.
