Michael--what's your price range? There is a house just up the road from me for sale....we get LOTS of snow & we're very close to the ski hill. Not too much rain but this house does have a creek and a pond. LOTS of sunshine--probably more than 300 days of it per year...there's really not much regulation up here as long as you keep to yourself.

My husband is a school teacher here in Okanogan and there is 4-H and FFA here. Omak is pretty desert-like but Pleasant Valley & Methow Valley are more green and higher up (more snow). The Loup Loup Pass (where I live) gets a lot of snow.
Here is the house I was thinking of....

I really could dream about this house.

I am so happy that you were able to get her away from the eagle. That would sure get my blood pumping. I found blue-kote on Amazon.com for 6.74 it is a 4oz pump spray bottle. I think that I am going to get some too.

I guess all that time on the treadmill paid off.

Send it to me. I'll use it as a decoy for the eagles.

LOL....it probably would work too. DH wants to set it out and see what our roo "Tyson" thinks of it. I told DH that Tyson will probbly rip it to shreds.

A friend of ours brought me two horribly abused Rhodie hens yesterday. I don't have all the details, but the gist of things is someone horribly overhatched and ended up with several dozen Rhodies in a very small space. They culled out the cockerels, but still had 4 dozen hens who began savaging each other in the small space. Joe took 10 of the sorriest looking chickens I've ever seen and brought me these two.

Both show signs of repeated, long term pecking, feather pulling and the like - yet somehow, have managed to begin laying. Poor things. They are very sweet gals, willing to be handled, will sing to you and very peaceful with our Cochins. I suspect, that given time, attention and safety they will fully recover.

Wow Thanks for all the replies.

Your name says it all. Our two boys have been in 4-H for 2 years and have been in scouts 5 and 7 years. Our youngest is 4 and will be starting cloverbuds I feel our County’s 4-H has a lot of room of improvement.

Here in Kansas that would be the Planning & Zoning. Here we need a permit to put up a fence or to put a sign for your business.

I do have The Omak-Okanogan County Chronicle facebook page liked.

I have been looking at land in Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry and Okanogan County. I am concerned about population, population growth and taxes. The county I live in now have has a population of around 18,000 for the last 110 years and our taxes are very high.
About the season here in Kansas. I don’t like spring because the threat of tornados, I don’t like summer due to the high humidity, I don’t like fall once my allergies kick in, I love winter just wish for more snow.
I do enjoy the different seasons, and could tolerate allergies if the area was pretty.
I get funny looks from people around here when I tell them I’d rather be in an earthquake then a tornado.

We are looking for 20 to 40 acres without a house, trees and pasture, stream and spring on the south (sunny) side of a hill mountain. We homeschool and I am a Web Admin so we would like broadband. One of the things my wife and I realized is we use to be materialistic and now we are not. We have given are selves a couple of years to sell a lot of those material things and acquire the things we need to be more self sufficient. Also use those 2 years to learn the skills to live self sufficient life while I have a good job.
